just bought some miralax. So how much water do I dissolve the 1/8 tsp in? The directions for a human would be 4-8 oz., I wouldn't get that much water in him,Colin is the opposite. He wouldn't touch it now gobbles it up. Hope Murphy gets back to it. Is he still doing well with the canned venison food?
Okay, thanks!I always just mixed it in Colin's food and added water to the food as usual.
that is what I do too You could also mix it in the pumpkinjust bought some miralax. So how much water do I dissolve the 1/8 tsp in? The directions for a human would be 4-8 oz., I wouldn't get that much water in him,
Murphy was the same - I had to force feed it to him for a week or so - then he loved it for 2 months, now suddenly he won't eat itColin is the opposite. He wouldn't touch it now gobbles it up. Hope Murphy gets back to it. Is he still doing well with the canned venison food?
I think it also has something to do with lack of fiber in the canned food - I don't know why they can't put some fiber in thereMaybe they go less because they are able to utilize the wet food better, so less waste? Colin actually has some diarreah now, since the antibiotics I guess. Started giving a probiotic. He's on pumpkin too.
@Sharon14 Yes it is lonely. Sharon your doing great with Colin. When I don't hear from someone there I'll post in main thread or mostly use my own judgement because by then it's to late. Sometimes I think I've been blacklisted because I won't choose a protocol.
Paula, I am so sorry that you are left hanging like this. I wish I understood Lantus to be able to help you. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. You know how squeak, mamma!
I think they get used to being high and their bodies like it there. They think it's wrong to be in the correct numbers...unfortunately Colin likes the Pinks![]()
are they having you hold or decrease any of his Lantus doses in anticipation for the surgery?I like yellow and blue too, wish Colin did. Maybe after his dental on Tues...
Good morning Carol. Good question.are they having you hold or decrease any of his Lantus doses in anticipation for the surgery?

Have you tried brushing Smokey's teeth with one of the finger brushes and fish flavored toothpaste? (except, make sure the toothpaste has no sugar)Good luck with dental. I'm sure it will help.
Question for anyone-- what can I use for gingivitis or any other dental issue on Smokey? Do not know if he ever had cleaning down, but I doubt it. He does have gingivitis but vets don't want to do any dental cleaning because of age and diabetes. The will not do anything that requires anesthesia.

Would love to be a mouse in your house at oral hygiene time! LOLWill he let you brush his teeth either with a tiny toothbrush or a rubber finger type thing (don't know the official name of them)? I use my organic toothpaste and DE. I just started the DE on me and the animals. Just have to be careful that it is wet on the toothbrush or finger thing so they don't inhale the dust. My dogs love my old Sonic battery toothbrush but the cats aren't too crazy about it...yet!

Or, would you try to brush the mouse teeth too??Oh no, you wouldn't want to be a mouse, you would be a goner!
Thanks Bobbie! Vacation was wonderful and Rupert did fine with his care taker. He only did one fur shot, I was very proud of him! Rupert was running high, but that is normal for him. I will adjust his dose, but things have been hectic around here and I want to start on a calmer day when I can test more. How is Bubba doing? Sending healing vibes for Bubba here!Welcome back Lynn! How was you vaca? And how did the cats do in your absence? And Happy belated Birthday to you!!![]()
Hey Paula, he is doing really well after the getting stuck under the on Saturday. It might have set his healing back a day. The vet told me yesterday when he called me ( a vet who calls on Sunday!!) that I might start seeing him paw at the side of the cone because the site will start itching for the healing and sure enough this morning I noticed him doing just that. He hasn't had any buprenex since Sat. morning as per the vet and his numbers have been down so I am fairly confident that he isn't in any pain.@Bobbie And Bubba , how is Bubba doing?
So glad you vaca with sisters and mom was good. And good job with your care giver! It's always hard to get back into the saddle after some time off. Welcome back!!Thanks Bobbie! Ah, I am sorry to hear about his sight. Is there any signs of cataracts. The new vet showed me pictures of cats with cataracts and it makes like a star in the eye. I can't remember the name of the cataract but it sounded like "star"My vet is open on Sunday until 2PM. So I can believe yours called.
How about using one of those inflatable collars the have now? It won't be so bulky but yet keep him from scratching.
Smokey is in his own world. Mid 400's this morning. I think he is having trouble seeing now. If I have a treat in my hand he can't seem to find it. I get all slobber ed when he tries. But he can find his bowl and walk through house with no problems. He doesn't quite clean his bowl, he pushes everything to opposite side then I have to turn the bowl.

Oh, I forgot the word "Bed" with the cone of shame. The bed had lower rails and he got wedged and flailed around and bumped the surgical site and it starting bleeding a bit. He's good now...scary for the momma bean.I turn the dish for Merlin too. When I was on vacation, I decided not to tell the pet sitter that I do that just in case she thinks I am nuts. She has three cats and fed them dry food. I sent her catinfo.org and she started switching the next day. Now she probably wouldn't think I was nuts. Or are we all nuts around here?
Welcome back Lynn. Glad everything went ok with Rupert while you were gone.
So I am curiuos what he got stuck under?
and Chicago!! No pet sitter I can find knows how to do the glucose testingAsk your caregiver if he'll travel to PA? I've got two out of state weddings coming up this spring, my niece and my son.![]()
Hi Sharon - sorry, just checking in and have scanned the thread.Vet said can either give 1/2dose or none. I guess I'll see what his numbers are that AM. What did you do Bobbie? I dread not being able to feed him, he's so pitiful, cries and tries to stand on his hind legs if I'm just too slow getting breakfast to him.
