Recently started fostering a newly diagnosed diabetic cat. Would be grateful for your advice on Prozinc dosing versus switching to Lantus insulin.
He came from the shelter on Prozinc 2 units twice daily, though he had low nadirs of ~50 at this dose, so I've titrated down to 1.5 units twice daily. For context, he eats one can of Fancy Feast Classic pate twice daily. His peaks read as 'high' every day and are over 400mg/dL.
I've attached a graph from his FreeStyle Libre with his median glucose levels (dark blue line) and 25-75th percentiles (darker shaded area).
Do you think these high peaks and relatively frequent nadirs <100 suggest that a longer acting insulin, such as Lantus, could be a better fit?
