On Zyrtec. My civvie Tripper who will be 19 in few months has always been picky eater but now barely eating.
Long story short hopefully. Only issue with her has been thyroid. Many months getting the methimazole dose straightened out. We did finally. 3 different vet practices disagree on certain aspects of labs (in signature). Marje has already reviewed.
Anyway, last couple days Tripper isn't eating, barely tablespoon a day. Impossible to pill. Have tried cerenia suspension and pill. Got a pill in her for 2 days, suspension this morning, though she spit some out. Because the methimazole is transdermal I don't have ears to use for mirtz. Talked with Primary Vet Dr N yesterday. We are going to skip her AM methimazole so I can get the mirtz going. And going back to budesonide everyday instead of every other. Starting today and call him back in Friday.
It occurred to me maybe she can't smell her food. Humidity is terribly high here. Tripper is allergic to trees, grasses, weeds and such although inside only with a/c on even my sinuses are stuffy. And she has been sneezing, though doesn't sound congested. I asked about Zyrtec in the past and Dr N isn't familiar with it in cats so won't recommend it.
I know a few of you use it. Is generic ok? And it's 1/2 tab correct? It might help with sinuses & appetite.
This morning she was pooping and started crying, this is a first for her. Only a little nugget came out. So miralax was given.
I'm on my way to pick up more cerenia and will stop at store to find some smelly food for her.
