Any advice on why they r jumping around so much?? At 5:30 190 and then at 7:30 336?? I talked to mom and she said when she gets home tomorrow we gonna change his dose and see if that helps.

I noticed on the 20th and the 21st he was more cuddly and wanted to be right next to me. He was in the hundreds those nights. Where as on the 22 and 23, he seemed to be more distant. Last night he even climbed up to the attic! (We have a bed up there he used to sleep on all the time but since he's been sick he stays down here and never goes up there. Very rare when he wanders up there.) I kept having to call him to me last night when usually he don't even let us use the restroom alone!! lol

Right now, although his numbers are high, hes been sitting next to me letting me love on him. He's purring, using the box, all good signs...

And what are bad numbers, im confused about that. 371 is the highest he's been with me yet. But i don't know what that means.

What it looks like is you are trying to find the right dose for Gandalf & as with most newbies, this takes some time-When you increase the dose,
sometimes, the liver goes into a panic mode from the lower numbers & spills glucose to keep the body safe- thus it sends the bg higher-This is called NDW or new dose wonkiness--What you would do is hold the dose as this will pass within 24 hours--It is normal & dont be alarmed.
As you have had some nice blue numbers lately, just hang in there --Hope the dosing helpers will come by tonite.

Unfortunately, the bouncing is part of the process. If you look at Gandalf's SS, pretty much every time his numbers drop into the blues, within a cycle or so, he jumps up into the pinks. Like Roni was pointing out, this is a normal response. Because Gandolf isn't used to being in lower numbers due to the FD, his liver panics and dumps glucose and counterregulatory hormones into his system. That's what causes the numbers to spike. We not so lovingly refer to this as Liver Training School (LTS). The more time Gandolf spends in lower numbers, the less his liver will overreact.

Once the bounce clears, you might want to think about increasing Gandolf's dose.

Gee, maybe he just misses your Mom. Has she ever left him since he's been diagnosed? I bet not...
They really do not understand things like "I will be back in a couple of days" Or "I just have to leave for a little while, but you will be fed an you will be okay" At least, maybe there is something like that which could explain the change in his behavior...
I do hope that this is all it is. You are doing an excellent job of watching him...and noticing things as you do.
If he still acted "different" when you Mom comes home, I am sure she will have it checked out.
The numbers can be explained as Sienne posted...it's the other behavior that I am wondering about...the numbers will be okay when your Mom increases the dose. Hope you have a good night! So glad you are posting!
