And I've gotten some downright bad and contradictory advice. @@Wendy&Neko told me the other day "If we didn't see it, it didn't happen" in regards to not seeing greens, even though I was seeing literally 100-110 on either side of a testing gap, and suggested a dose increase. That statement is complete nonsense and downright dangerous.
Meanwhile, I saw @Gill & George respond to @Beth 73 that he was hesitant to suggest a dose increase because there were some lower numbers on either side of a gap and they could have gone lower.
No, Justin. We did not say the same thing... nor is anyone treating you like you're an idiot. We are not quibbling over semantics. Not even close. You said,It's getting a little old, you people treating me like an idiot. We said basically the same thing but you want to quibble over semantics and act like I'm so stupid I don't know what the word "crucial" means instead of just trying to be helpful and answer my question? You're acting like a child. Ridiculous behavior, especially for a moderator.
Not considering R as a good fit is not the same as R being crucial at this time... or any of the other definitions I've purposely provided for clarification as well as your consideration. There appeared to be a need for clarification after reading your response... which I've provided. All this other stuff... "treating you like you're an idiot"... "acting like you're so stupid"... yes, I agree. Sigh... it is very child-like and ridiculous.I'd be interested to know why you don't consider it a good fit right now.
IMHO, at this time, the use of R is secondary to getting the basal dose brought back up to speed. In other words, I have no idea why the vet, or any vet, would reduce the basal dose to 1 unit. Currently, the dose is back up to 2 units, but it took a 3.25u dose to pull BG numbers down to green less than 2 weeks ago. It'll likely take the same or more to do it again. Just my opinion... atm, the basal dose is what's of utmost importance. Then we can add a bolus if necessary.
At the time you suggested the increase, his numbers were clearly trending downwards and had been for days. This was before we saw a green but were right at the cusp. You gave no explanation of why that downward trend should be ignored and we should increase the dose, other than "we didn't see it, so it didn't happen". That's not an explanation other than to say you were only looking at the colors on the sheet and nothing else and I just have a fundamental disagreement with that philosophy. Sure, I test enough and know how to steer but it's not a situation I want to purposely put myself in AND he's at a really high dose right now and we've seen in the past where he has been difficult to steer back up.As I said yesterday, those greens you saw after I suggested the increase, could have been from a delayed R effect. It happens. It doesn’t mean the Lantus dose by itself was giving you green. And besides, all you saw were upper greens, which means you do have enough room for an increase, even if it had been the Lantus giving you green. You test enough, you are an experienced user, increasing to bring down the nadirs and the high points was not a dangerous suggestion for you. And yes, I consider the caregivers experience in my suggestions.
No sir. That's an incorrect assumption you're making. Advice givers do not have to be on the same page with their recommendations. There are no experts that make up this board. What we do have is a lot of dedicated volunteers who give generously and freely of whatever time they can to help other caregivers of diabetic cats and their kitties. The levels of experience and basis of knowledge may vary greatly. The FDMB is purposely operated as a peer-reviewed message board. We are very proud of and celebrate that status. The noteworthy advice givers need to be on the same page with their recommendations.
Whoa! You're hitting 0 to 60 faster than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport! And you guys always say ECID and at the end of the day the CG is the one holding the syringe, yet I make decisions on Sebastian's care that people don't agree with and that turns into something you have to investigate?
FWIW, if I (or any other Moderator), had any questions or concerns you would have received a private message... just as others have when a Moderator or board administrator has questions or concerns. It's a very effective method of communication/gathering information when needed/necessary.Maybe I suggested things to other CGs that people didn't agree with and that was the problem but a quick PM to hash it out would have been greatly preferred.
Words flying. A bit of misunderstandings? STRESS. WE ALL ON THIS FORUM ARE under. Different degrees of, different amounts of.wish you and Sebastian all the best. Sorry to see you go. I have enjoyed watching Sebastian's journey and recovery.
