Good Saturday,

Rusty had a good night sleeping with his beans and is bringing down his bgs this morning. He must have slept most of yesterday. Yesterday evening we had a mouse in the cabin for a while and Rusty didn't even notice--he slept through it!!
This morning he was raring to go. Gobbled up his breakfast, had a good shot, and a good schmooze with his beans. He and his papabean are taking a nap right now.

It hasn't yet started to rain on the paddlers in day 2 of the 90 mile race, but the wind is fierce and that will mean a strenuous day, especially since the first part of the course is about 10 miles on a large lake before they get into the shelter of a river. Then, later, there will be the 2-mile carry around the falls and the day's finish on the river. Tomorrow, the last day, is the easiest and the weather is predicted to be sunny and much colder. We won't be at the finish this year because we will be staying over at camp and leading a paddle near here on Monday.

Here is a link to the 90 miler, for those who want to learn more about this classic race.

Wishing all a fine weekend,

Ella & Rusty

Hi Ella.
Nice day for Rusty. Good numbers for you to go away, and almost nice blue. I'm sure lots of his friends will stop by to keep him company.
Hopin' the weather is good enough for you to go on the water safely. We just had a storm, with heavy rain, and black skies, but it passed, and it's just raining lightly now.
I hope yours is light too.
Have fun....be safe!

Good Morniing Ella and Rusty, it sounds and looks like Rusty is settling down into his new digs there and feeling good. He must have been really tired to sleep thru the mouse running around! :-D Maybe it's a mouse friend now! I'll have to take a look at the link. That is an amazing race, let alone thinking of it in 90 miles.
Maggie is looking forward to seeing Rusty today and having a great time at Camp Stu.

Good morning Ella:)

Just for clarification: are you in the race or watching the race? It's looks pretty cool and it's awesome that it attracts participants from around the world.
Glad to hear that Rusty is settling in nicely and is enjoying cat naps with the papa bean:)
Hope the weather clears up for the paddle you're leading on Monday!

Hi again,
No, we are not paddling in the race. We are the pit crew for a friend who paddles it every year. This means that on the first day of the race (yesterday) we meet him at each of the carries and replenish his water supply, give him some powerbars, etc, take from him whatever he no longer needs (jacket, etc), and we meet him at the end of the day and give him some food and some beer. So basically we drive to the carries, meet him at some point on each of the 5 carries, exchange his waterpak, and then on to the next carry. It' s lots of fun and of course we get to see other friends in the race and friends watching the race, and we get to see much more of the race than we would if we just went to the finish line. Today and tomorrow he doesn' t need us (today it would involve a 10-mile hike for us to meet him at the one long carry). Tomorrow we would normally be at the finish line in Saranac Lake Village, but we are leading a paddle near camp on Monday, and are staying down here until Tues.
We would like to paddle the race some day, but to train for it takes all summer. And we would have to get stronger!!! (and younger--ha ha).

Oh yes, this is Rusty's condo! He is sitting next to me on the futon. He doesn't want to go out because the wind is blowing up a gale. There are tornado warnings up for parts of Vermont, but not for NY State. Rusty seems in no hurry to bring down his bgs.

Sounds like Rusty is having a good morning even if he is still yellow. Hope you have a good day and everyone stays safe. Those winds sound crazy.

Ah. Support crew.
I've done something similar for cycling... Tour de Taos. It is a lot of fun to help out even if you aren't doing the event.
And you are such a neccessary part of the race.

Hope Rusty decides to slide back into the blues at least. Maybe the mouse will return and give a good chase. :-D
Happy Caturday!

Hi again,

We have been under a tornado warning since the mid afternoon and in effect until 10 PM. We've had incredible winds, thunderstorms, and downpours, but no tornados. They had one in NYC, on the Breezy Point beach. That's pretty closr to where Roni lives and I hope they are safe and dry.

We lost power about 10 times, but only for short intervals. The front brought much colder weather. Rusty did fine during the worst if the weather. He even started to bring down his bgs!

We haven't heard about how the canoe race was going today. In that westher it must have been awful.

Hi Ella.
I better get out the reading glasses. I thought you said you were paddling today. Not in the race...just paddling for fun.

Geez you really got hit with that storm.
Buffalo and surrounding towns, got hit hard too. Lots of power lines taken down by trees, and unbelievably, a trailer with several 4wheelers in it, blew over.
It started out bad this morning, but then we just had rain off and on and some wind. Whew! I'm 50 miles south of Buffalo.

Good evening, to you and Edward, and of course, the handsome Rusty :-D

Hi Ella - sorry for the late visit.... A better pmps for Rusty! YAY! Looks like he and Mannie anted to hang out together today. I hope Rusty';s move to the blue floor will get him there too. :-D :-D

Oh MY on your winds! I hope they were able to race oK today. I feel for them with that two mile carry. Did the rains hold off?

Enjoy your evening! And I can't believe that Rusty slept through a mouse. What would Leo say!

Re: 9/8 Rusty AMPS 211, +5 247, +9 251, PMPS 181

Rusty just killed a mouse (after playing with it for 20 minutes. ) I felt so bad for the little thing. Now he's on the track of another. I know it's in his nature, but it is hard to watch. He couldn't eat it because of so few teeth. Rusty has discovered that camp has added attractions!

Rusty....is the cabin visit making you nervous still you ferocious hunter?? Poor little mousey!

Wow on the weather, Ella. I hope you all will be ok and safe at the cabin. Thinking of you.

Are you still using the TT's? Are they influencing his numbers?
