I force fed 2 Tbsp Wellness Turkey with supplements for breakfast but... last night she had a snack around +3 and she ate 1 1/2 Tbsp Wellness soup from a spoon. Then, her + 8.5 snack she also ate from a spoon - around 2/3 - 3/4 Tbsp Wellness. She seems to like the spoon - I don't know if it's just more comfortable for her to eat from the spoon because her throat is full of gunk from drainage and her nose is pretty stuffed up, so it's tough to eat and breathe thru her mouth at the same time.

I keep putting saline drops in her nose and then suctioning them out. If I do this within an hour of feeding, it seems to encourage her to eat a bit - I think it helps her smell/taste just a little.

I have also been giving 1/4 cypro with meals. That way we get the antihistamine effect (to some degree) and some appetite stimulation.

Going btb.

Re: 9/5 Kasha AMPS 102

Krys....nice update. At least she is eating a bit from the spoon. It sounds like Emma, Krystn's kitty, both like eating from a spoon....we had a late night discussion about table manners. Very sophisiticated for a kitty.....my Curry likes eating from my finger.....I used to give her some greek yogurt w/my finger on occassion....so she got use to it....She won't eat from a spoon.....Maybe Kasha can teach Curry some manners, eh? Or Curry can teach Kasha about "finger food".

Sounds like doing the saline trick before feeding is helpful. Good for you for figuring that out.

Hope you can get some rest today.

Nice to hear she's at least eating from a spoon. Hope this bit of good news continues for you two

Re: 9/5 Kasha AMPS 102

Eating from the spoon is making progress sounds like she is making baby steps towards eating on her own sending more healing vines and snowflakes to help her :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: cat_pet_icon

Re: 9/5 Kasha AMPS 102

I wonder if it's easier for her to breath if she's not leaning over a bowl. Having her head more upright may effect the way she's draining. Just a thought....

it sounds like she's making some progress, and wants to eat - those are good things! Hope you get some rest and refreshment today...

Re: 9/5 Kasha AMPS 102

it sounds like you're figuring out how to make things a little easier for Kasha. Good for you! It's good that she's interested in food.

Well, I force fed 2 Tbsp dinner. It's just easier that way - I know she has a good meal in her with supplements. She also had several small snacks throughout the day - fed by spoon by me. At one point, she found me somewhere in the house and meowed at me a couple of times. So, I went to prepare some food for her and found her settled in on her papasan chair, waiting for me to bring her a snack. Hmmm...

Saw my horse today as well. He's doing fairly well - doesn't look like he's eating as well as I'd like - there was grain left in the bin that I cleaned out. But he looks good and he was moving fairly well - especially after he loosened up a bit.

In fact - no one is eating all that well - even Blue isn't finishing up his foods. I wonder if it has something to do with the weather - we had super hot days and then a couple of very cool days and nights. Maybe it's throwing them off a bit.

I have thought about the fact that it might be more comfortable for Kasha to eat from a spoon. I have some pretty shallow dishes, but they still don't appeal to her - and flat dishes she just licks till the food falls over the edge. At least with a spoon, she licks the food off and I can scoop it back up again (from the bowl underneath).

During many desperate occassions, as well as Latte's last week, I let her eat straight from the can that I held up to her. It always surprised me how much she liked eating this way, especially if there was juice in it. Like she was a kid licking as fast as she could to get the gum/candy in the center of a lollipop. I was always nervous about her cutting her tongue, so I only did it when nothing else was working and watched carefully. Just another assist feeding option. The spoon always worked well for baby food, yogurt, and other special treats. Glad Kasha seems receptive that way.

Enjoy your extra day off tomorrow.
