Johnny was the snuggle bug of all snuggle bugs early this morning. He snuggled under the sheets with me, gave two long and purr-filled neck massages and then asked for breakfast about an hour early. He ended up falling asleep and waiting until normal time. I had trouble sleeping in general last night (felt wide awake at every wakening), so I had to stay in bed a little longer today. I got up just before the +184. It was nice to not care what time it was...man, I hate schedules.

Johnny, let's come down from there, okay? This is Day 8 of your trial and a big milestone...first time (out of three) to make it to 8 days! Let's show everyone we belong there. cat_pet_icon

Re: 9/5 Johnny +179 (115) +184 (130) - OTJ Trial, Day 8

Happy Day 8 Johnny! I hear this is your first time at day 8, so i know it's unfamiliar territory, but just keep doing what you've been doing and you'll be fine. Pretend it's yesterday! I had to quit my trial yesterday, but I really want you to make it to the falls! Good luck - Muffin

Hang in there Johnny....(did you send in the pictures yet?) nailbite_smile

Johnny:
Come on down to the beach today ....we are under the
GREEN umbrella, ok? We are all jet skiing and surfing and
swimming...having a great time. Please come....

Thanks, Anne. Sorry about your trial being suspended. You'll get there!

Pat, photos are all in!

It's ok Janice, we'll get there someday, I'm sure of it. I've just got to figure out how to change her diet. Going shopping today for new types of tempting (hopefully) treats!

Re: 9/5 Johnny +179 (115) +184 (130) - OTJ Trial, Day 8

I'll bet Johnny adds a lot of warmth when he snuggles in! Happy Day 8.

Re: 9/5 Johnny +179 (115) +184 (130) - OTJ Trial, Day 8

You're right, Kathy. I was definitely warm and toasty! Which may have factored in to my complete alertness. lol

74 at +188. Johnny's headed to the beach to hang out with Raja. Make sure he puts lotion inside his ears, they're pretty fair.

Johnny's been pretty restless this afternoon, following me from room to room. Must be Mother's Day in the cat world. lol I feel very loved. Johnny also ate a little bit about an hour before this test and promptly threw it up. I'm thinking hairball, but I only see a tiny bit of hair. Johnny got about 1/8th of beef & liver feast to polish off the can. Still scavenging around, I ended up opening up an EVO beef (2%) and serving that. Brian's out getting the two staples.

I'm wondering if now is the time to experiment....like try 3% one day or try the chicken/turkey EVO (0%). We'll see if his body really prefers a little carb or if he reacted strangely to something in the other 0% we've fed (both fish/shrimp varieties).

Whoops. Just started thinking out loud there...feel free to skip over that novel. :) Off to the gym!

Re: 9/5 Johnny +179 (115) +184 (130) - OTJ Trial, Day 8

I sympathize with the barfing -- Kitty has been getting rid of some hairballs himsel. :? Gee, I thought approaching autumn was the time they would keep the hair ON their bodies!

Kitty is also very attached after these events. He also gets restless when the weather starts to change. I don't know why, but sounds like Johnny might!

Enjoy the rest of the day.

Re: 9/5 Johnny +179 (115) +184 (130) - OTJ Trial, Day 8

maybe I'm overcautious, but I don't think I would do any experimenting right now. Johnny is getting the hang of this, but we don't want to rock the boat... I believe Jill has said that she feeds Alex the same thing all the time, to minimize the number of different factors that affect her numbers. My cats pretty much get only two flavors. They don't seem to mind.

Re: 9/5 Johnny +188 (74) +192 (48) - OTJ Trial, Day 8

48 at +192. Yippee! I definitely think the EVO beef is really not 2% and more like 1% or less.

Re: 9/5 Johnny +188 (74) +192 (48) - OTJ Trial, Day 8

yeah!!!! This is like a really great movie, you never know what will happen next... I actually got a little scared first because I saw the 192, then I realized that was the + hour and not the BG. Whew!

Re: 9/5 Johnny +188 (74) +192 (48) - OTJ Trial, Day 8

Glad I'm not the only one who got the hours and BGs mixed up. I was thinking "Awwww, crap. Another aborted trial?"

Go Johnny!

Re: 9/5 Johnny +188 (74) +192 (48) - OTJ Trial, Day 8

Hmm, maybe I should reverse or not use the parenthesis? I promise I'm not trying to create more drama than already exists! I'll see how I can do that better. Seems like either way, the eye goes to the big number. Glad to have the predicament though.

eta: I switched to a hopefully less hair-raising subject format.

Re: 9/5 Johnny 74 @ +188; 48 @ +192 - OTJ Trial, Day 8

Come on Johnny you can do it, You're over half way there now.

Re: 9/5 Johnny 74 @ +188; 48 @ +192 - OTJ Trial, Day 8

lol! yes, how about sticking to number of days OTJ in the subject line? my heart skipped a beat when i saw that 192!
looking good. very, very good!!!

Re: 9/5 Johnny 74 @ +188; 48 @ +192 - OTJ Trial, Day 8

Sorry, guys! Rookie mistake. Oh, wait, can I claim that?

Should I just stick to posting AMBG/PMBG and how many days OTJ? With the exception of tomorrow, we'll likely only have AM/PM numbers from here on out on weekdays. I wasn't sure how to add the extra data...knowing +4 would mean four hours after a shot and was trying to avoid that confusion. Doing the four hour tests has really helped us realize which food was doing what, but maybe that's SS data only at this point.

Right now, he's 57 @ +196.

Or 57 @ +2,784 after starting insulin. Is that less confusing?

I'll change my subject line!

Well done, Janice and Johnny--looking great!

And yes, I had a sad, too, seeing the 192 before I figured it out. But the

made me laugh...
