Those labs look great! Why does he say she has kidney disease? The creatinine is not high. The BUN is but you feed raw so it will be higher than normal.

I don't understand that either. Weird conclusion. Literally says creatine is within reference values and then said impaired function? What? LOL.

That one lab page I am having trouble seeing. Blurry. What test was that? I was able to enlarge it. That is a heart test and I don’t know enough about it but not sure how accurate by itself and definitely not by itself. Your vet does need a urinalysis to see if Marmalade is concentrating her urine. If not she could have very early ckd and a lower protein diet would not be needed at this early stage.

I am assuming I should get back to you after the urine test results come. For now, hold the course with her Primal diet? What should I be asking/telling the vet? These are the foods they gave me to sample for her.

Yours thoughts? I dońt know what numbers to look for that are safe for the diabetes and yet might accommodate the k/d if she even has it. She is more lethargic and pees a lot more than in her past. I gave her small amounts of the wet chicken and vegetable stew over the course of her last 4 mini meals last night. She liked it. But is it a safe choice? Also, she is absolutely crazy about Orijen Original poultry and monkfish treats . She get several many times a day after her tests, her shot, as a topper on her mini meals if she seems disinterested once in a while. She has lost that 1/2 lb as well. Thank you for your wisdom here.:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Yes. Get a urinalysis done. No rush. Dry KD is high carb. It’s not used with very early ckd. We need more info to know if she has it. The urinalysis will help. Stick with primal for now.

Was that test probnp? It tests for heart disease.

I posted on yesterday's condo but I agree with Elise, her numbers are not that bad. You can return that food to the vet. No point in giving Marmalade high carb food with those kidney values. The only thing I disagree with is continuing the Primal because she's 15 years old and it's high in phosphorus and her phosphorus levels are elevated. That would come down quickly with a low phosphorus, low carb food.
