I have to take Max to the vet for a BP check today and get a refill on his amlodipine, if that’s what the vet chooses to continue. Dreading that. Wild cat still hates the car. Feliway it is, that helps.

I need to pick up supplies before all the rain from the hurricane gets here tomorrow. Kids coming after that, then I have to finish a project. Busy day so I hope Max will behave and not do anything too drastic, because you know that’s what cats do. He will be mad at me, but seems really content and happy so far this morning. :cat:

A friend that I worked with has a cat, also a ginger tabby named Max, who was diagnosed with diabetes yesterday. I talked to her a little bit about that last night. I’m thinking she is overwhelmed right now, but I’m going to try and see if I can get her to join here. I’m sure the vet advice she’s getting isn’t what we do, but we will see how that goes.

Busy day, I hope all goes well and Max doesn’t get too too “mad” at you. Stay safe, hope the storm takes it easy on you.

Quick note. Just back from vet. Max’s BP still over 200. Mine probably was too lol. Still construction going on at vets office and the ride over there making him afraid, so that didn’t help. He gained weight. Now 20 lbs. I don’t know? Anyway she said he looked good. Recheck BP in two weeks and repeat labs in November.

Oh she increased his Amlodipine to 1/2 of a 2.5 mg tab daily today as well.

Bummer about the high BP. Noisy vet office would send Neko over 200 too, even though her baseline was closer to 140.
You are right. I almost didn’t want to take him back yet because of all the noise there but we were running low on the amlodipine. It kind of worries me about increasing his RX if his baseline is good at home. I don’t have a cuff right now. I sent the one from Amazon back. I didn’t think it was anywhere close to being accurate. I will just see how he does on the med I guess and take him back in two weeks. I wish they had a quiet area to check it. I feel like it’s a waste of money when I know it’s elevated because of the noise.

I'm sorry the vet saw fit to increase the amlopidine,. I am with you, I'd worry he is only higher at the vet due to all that noise and stress.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: I am also sorry that cuff did not work out, that is very frustrating to hear! Well his BG looks good, and I hope you are getting enough rest and don't get hit by the FL hurricanes! That was frightening to see on the news!

Thanks Ruth! We aren’t supposed to get it as bad as Florida, but we are expecting strong winds and flooding. We got the generator out and I have everything Max needs. Just hope it’s not too bad. I always dread hurricane season. At least I’m not working now. When I was working we had to work at shelters with the Red Cross for people who had to evacuate their homes. That would be terrible to have to be away from Max for days at the time now that he’s diabetic. Nobody else knows how to care for him. So I’m thankful to be home. I hope Max will be okay on that new dose of amlodipine. I’m sort of worried about that.
