I couldn’t get a testing at +2 today as Snow fled. She isn’t usually so determined to get away from me but I figured something outside was causing anxiety (or the fact I just got back from the vet w her brother) and left her until +4. She usually hangs out for a post BG treat but ran away to hiding again.

Despite increasing her dose last week, her numbers seem to be rising. Is it possible I messed up the insulin? I pushed some back into the pen from the syringe and am reading the silicone or whatever in the syringe could mess with the insulin. Any other ideas? I have 4 other pens so if I need to sacrifice one to test this, I am okay with that.

We’re still trying to sort out food for her. Vet appointment on Friday for the sore on her tail so I’m hopeful the vet may have some suggestions—at our appt today she said she would consult with her cat nutritionist friend before Friday.
 
It's hard to say what she is doing at each dose without enough tests (this is not criticism). The higher numbers you are seeing could be her bouncing from lower numbers that her body is not used to or it could just be that she needs more insulin. Do you think you can get more spot tests than you are getting now?

Her numbers do tend to be trending higher, so you could go up to 1.25U and see what she does. While it isn't recommended to push insulin back in the pen (the lubricant in the syringe can mess with its efficacy), I'm don't think it's the insulin. Does it look clear to you? Any floaties in it?

I appreciate your kindness. I feel horrible that I haven’t been able to get more spot tests and will work to stop talking myself out of it (I start feeling bad and want to give Snow breaks or an inevitable work emergency comes up). But it makes sense that it would allow us to see trends better.

Thank you for clarifying on the lubricant too. The insulin looks clear and no floaties. I’ll worry about my insulin-pulling technique (I read through all of the resources) after I’ve gotten enough spot checks to see trends.
