yesterday's condo
Good morning all!
Well, I think I put the wrong date on yesterday's condo. I know I posted yesterday, but couldn't find the right date. Odd....
Took Bob in last night and he was just beside himself. He's usually very calm, but he doesn't feel well and I think he's really sick of going to the vet. He was shaking and I've never seen him shake. It was so sad, it made me cry. The vet examined his belly and he didn't have any problems, but he freaked out when the vet examined his throat so I was convinced there was something hideous and horrible and painful there.
They did bloodwork that could run at the office and then also sent away thyroid tests. He also did several xrays. He showed me the xrays and I couldn't see anything - he pointed out what he said was the trachea and said the esophagus ran right along the top of it, but I couldn't see that. Again, I could see poop in Bob's intestines, so I am assuming if there were any sort of blockage in the esophagus, I could have seen it even though I couldn't see the esophagus?? :? I'll have the bloodwork a little later today and I will post it.
Basically, he said there was nothing screaming at him for something wrong - he examined Bob's throat again and he was fine so not sure if he was just pissed off the first time or what. He did mention two things:
1. Bob's stomach wall or lining is thick (is that the same as inflamed??). I have a call in to get a little more clarification.
2. I forget the name, but he said a certain white blood count was a little high. He said they usually see it high in kitties with allergies and something else (don't recall, but will find out - I remember thinking it wasn't all that concerning to me).
So, he gave Bob anti-inflammatory medicine called Onsior. Two tablets ever day for 3 days.
Been thinking about it and this is kind of what I came up with. I switched Bob to the Orijen dry relatively recently. It contains fish and that's really the only think he's getting regularly, besides the Wellness turkey. Do you think it's possible he's allergic to fish? He doesn't have itching and no vomiting, but if it's irritating his stomach on a regular basis, maybe it's irritating his esophagus and causing him to cough and swallow really hard. If that's the case, my only options are to switch back to the dry DM (which actually has a little less carbs than the Orijen) or find another holistic food without fish, and in that case we are looking at around 30% carbs. He's only eating four TBS a day of the dry so maybe that's an option. I just hate to feed him the DM - GROSS! Is there anything in the Wellness that could be causing it? I read the back and didn't see anything obvious.
Anyway, that's where we are. Bob was happy to be home last night, but he looked a little poopy this morning again. He did eat and he played with his string a little.
Sorry for the long post. Thanks everyone for stopping by yesterday with encouragement. I really appreciate it. I hope all kitties and beans are well today. Prayers and ((hugs)) for those in need.
