Yesterday's condo

Long emotional day yesterday. The good news is that Iris is back home. The vet started her on Albuterol treatments four times a day and that has really helped her breathe. She is also able to eat right after each treatment, but is still refusing food at other times. And she was thrilled to be back home and sleep with her Mama Bean. The vet is still trying to figure out what the next step should be. Obviously, this isn't treating the underlying cause, but it is at least helping to alleviate the symptoms.

Shortly after I brought Iris home, Ivy and Fern were adopted. They went to a very nice young couple with two Golden Retrievers. The dogs did excellent with my bossy kittens... and Ivy didn't waste any time to let them know that she will be the new boss. I am very glad that they will get to stay together and I really like their new parents... but I miss them terribly. What made it even worse is that poor little Flora is completely lost. Iris doesn't want to play right now and she just lost her two best friends. She was running circles around my adult cats last night, but they just don't play like kittens.

I think that Mandarin and Walter are both picking up on me being super stressed... and I wasn't able to sleep much. I finally went ahead and gave Mandarin a dosecrease this morning and I hope that they will both head back down soon.

I am once again late for my volunteer shift and have to run out the door... but I am looking forward to checking out some condos later. The last few days have been so crazy, I never even made it back to the board. And here's Ivy and Fern's adoption picture with their new family.

I'm sorry to see them go and I will miss the stories about them but I am happy that you found a good home for them and that they got to stay together!
Also happy to hear that Iris is home and that they've found a way to allow her to breathe easier.
Mandarin and Walter.....time to work the juice boys!

I'm glad Iris is back home and the treatments are helping her breathe. I hope they can find a treatment that helps once and for all. I'm glad Ivy and Fern have a good home, but I know you miss them. I hope Iris feels like playing more so Flora has a playmate. I hope Mandarin starts working the dosecrease and both boys come down today. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Very glad little Iris is home and the treatments are helping. Hopefully they will figure out a long term plan soon and she'll feel up to playing with Flora. It is sad to see Ivy and Fern go but so happy they are together and you could use a lighter load for a bit. Ok Boys, please work your way down nice and easy today and give mama bean some extra lovin.

Such a beautiful picture but bittersweet too:bighug: they look so happy, I am glad they adopted them both and fat they will have a wonderful home. :bighug:
I seriously could not do the amazing work you do...that takes a truly huge heart!:bighug::bighug:
Hoping Iris is feeling better soon, is the albuterol in an inhaler? I'm asking because Gussie suffers from breathing issues off and on, I just figure they are related to it being so very very dry here.
Hoping too that she finds comfort soon from losing her play buddies..
Sending vines and hugs:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Okay, Boys, lets work that juice and stop stressing momma out!

Oh, I got all teary reading your condo. So happy for Ivy and Fern that they can stay together yet sad for Flora and still worried for Iris. You are amazing!

Looks like my boys listened and decided to change into their blue pants. ...maybe they just needed their stressed bean out of the house for a bit.

It is still very strange to come home and not have Ivy and Fern right there. Or to test Mandarin and not have one try to take off with the lancet while the other one is licking the test strip. Those two girls were always in the middle of everything and the house feels very empty without them. :(

Just keep picturing them messing with those two goldens and keeping them hopping.:p They are very fortunate that you were their foster mama, and you did a wonderful thing, rescuing them and finding the purrfect furever home for them. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

You have so much on your hands, Christina. It's no wonder you're stressed. I am sending my strongest healing vines for little Iris. I hope they will figure out what's going on and how to fix it, and that she will soon be playing with Flora.

Boys, nice work getting down to the blue floor. Get comfy and stay awhile, okay?

Look at these boys go! :D Walter in the lagoon and Mandarin in low blues - who would have thought that this is where the day would take them after their pink start. Glad that I wasn't planning on going anywhere this afternoon!

Nice numbers - could the emptier nest have anything to do with it? Vines for Iris. I'm quite fond of her. So glad that 2 kittens have found their forever home and will be terrorizing the retrievers. They have gone to a good place.

All in all, happy for the adoption - wishing them a long and happy life with their new family - It's like having kids - you raise them to go off on their own (or try to get them out of your basement)
I am still not understanding what is wrong with Iris...Does she have a polyp? Seems like she needs a diagnosis?
Your two sugar boys are amazing - look how beautiful their numbers were today (exact opposite to Murphy)

Thank you boys for giving your mama something to smile about.

Fostering is painful. But also very rewarding. And imagine the joy those wee ones will bring to their new family, and the lessons they will teach for woofers! They're off for a great life. You did good.

More and more vines for little Iris. And wishes for little Flora to find fun again!

I really wish I had an answer. And I wish that we had done some diagnostic work much earlier. She was a tiny, sickly kitten when she was abandoned at the shelter (see picture - that was the day she came in). She would barely lift her head at first, was anemic from fleas and would hardly move. That was on June 2nd. The shelter vet immediately started her on antibiotics and has basically done one round of antibiotics after another. But rather than getting better, she has only gotten worse... and I finally took her to see my own vet last week (even though that means that I have to pay for her care).

At his point, her breathing is so bad that it would be very risky to sedate her and check for a polyp. I am supposed to check in with my vet tomorrow so we can figure out the next steps. It is still possible that this is "just" a really bad URI.

On a different note: fabulous cycles for both boys today... and we are back to synchronized cycles. I just hope that they will let me sleep - I'm officially exhausted!

Nice numbers for the boys, loving their synchronized cycles:D:cool::D:cool:

Ivy and Flora are just adorable, I'm so happy that they have found a forever home, but at the same time I am sending you loads of these, because I know you must miss them:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

More vines for sweet little Iris, I hope your vet can figure things out soon.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
