Nice start for Trix, so no follow-up pokey since she began in the normal range. And, a very happy lumberjack-ette gluttonous appy this morning, too!

However, it was a horrible, horrible, horrible morning for the gelcap, though. I got up an hour early - at 4:00 - to shift the meds schedule to accommodate my Dad's birthday/early dinner this evening. For whatever reason, though, Trix was extremely upset about the gelcap...like I've never seen before. She was hissing and growling and making all sorts of cat fight sounds....right after I brag about how helpful she is with her meds and fluids!! I'm writing this and saving it as a draft that I will post later, and as of now - 5:25 - 45 minutes later than planned, I still haven't gotten it down her. I'm pretty upset, too, although I'm trying to not let her see that...partly because she's so upset, partly because I so desperately needed the sleep I lost by getting up an hour early to do this. Not only do we have my Dad's birthday dinner tonight, but we also have a funeral early this morning, and I have to work in between the funeral and dinner. If she is still as upset the next time I try, I really may have to totally skip her meds until tonight. I've never done that before, but I don't know what else to do....so THAT would be upsetting to me, too. She's doing so well and I don't want to throw her off track. What I wouldn't give to be able to give a reasonably priced injection of all these meds...it would have been done and I would have gone BTB long ago.....

Big sigh.....

Have a great day, everyone...

Amy

ETA...Gave her a snack, let her settle for about 20 or so minutes, and finally got the gelcap down with minimal trouble at 5:45...the time I usually give it to her, and an hour later than my target time for this morning. I have no idea why she was so upset at first. We had our usual morning snuggles, ate a normal first breffis, and she's all snuggly now, too.

Hi Amy! Sorry to hear you had a not so pleasant morning..but alls well that ends well  Hope the rest of your day is less "dramatic". Happy Birthday to your Dad also!

Re: 9/20 Trixie AMBG 117

Morning Amy,
Nice to see Trixie in these nice numbers and no follow-up pokey is good, too! She always keeps to her nice green next poke. She deserves a Greenie! So sorry about the gelcap and Trix so upset, but glad it all worked out in the end. Sounds like a really full day for you. Sending lots of positive and good vines for all to go well today. Happy Birthday to your DF and glad he got his wish for the birthday celebration he wanted. Hugs and scritches.

Re: 9/20 Trixie AMBG 117

Sending lots of hugs and calming vines to you this morning, Amy. Sounds like you could definitely use them (along with some sleep). Glad that Trix decided to stop fighting it and has decided snuggles are better than hisses.

Please wish your DF a happy birthday from us!

Re: 9/20 Trixie AMBG 117

Trixie! That's not nice. I guess she just couldn't let all those good-girl comments from yesterday go unanswered! She is a cat, you know, and has to maintain her reputation!

Glad it all worked out albeit with too much stress.

Hope your day calms down, at least a little.

Big birthday greetings to your dad.

Marilyn and Polly

Deep breath time!! It's like they know when we need them to be cooperative so they are the opposite. Plotting against us I guess. I'm glad you got the meds down. Don't stress about the hour difference as I doubt it will make a difference. Happy birthday to your DF. I hope the rest of the day goes well once the funeral is behind you all. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 9/20 Trixie AMBG 117

Sorry about the trouble with the gelcap this morning, but at least you did get it in her. I hope things go better this evening. I hope things go smoothly for your dad's birthday dinner tonight. Happy Birthday to him.

Re: 9/20 Trixie AMBG 117

Well of course she had to be difficult...you were in a hurry and wanted to get it done!

They sure seem to have a 6th sense (and 7th and 8th) when it comes to that kind of thing! The more important it is to us, the more trouble they give us

Glad you finally got it down her and hope you have a good time at DF's birthday party!

Re: 9/20 Trixie AMBG 117

Big hugs to you, Amy!!! :YMHUG:
I know how upsetting this morning was for you.
I literally cried many times over pilling Lucy.

I'm glad it went down in the end!
Maybe she didn't like the schedule change....
Well done, Amy. You are such a wonderful bean!
And I am so happy Trixie's appy was good this morning. :-D

Happy Birthday to your Dad, and enjoy the party!

Nice PMBG, thanks to her "+10" snicky-snack! Pilling went better this evening - got it down on the third try, but not without a residual hiss from this morning  . I hope she settles down about this soon. I miss the days when she loved FortiFlora doused Pill Pockets.

We cancelled my Dad's dinner for now....he wasn't feeling well today, and I think a lot of it is connected to the stress. I also think he may have developed some lactose intolerance from the chemo.....just a theory for now. After this morning, I am exhausted, so it's probably good we're staying home tonight...

I'm sorry you had all that stress (((Amy))) and (((Trixie))).

I hope your Dad is feeling much better soon and can celebrate his Birthday in a day or two.
