Good morning, happy Thursday to all -

Chispa got a Solensia shot on Tuesday, and today she jumped up on the sofa for the first time in many weeks. That and her blue start (the first in SIX WEEKS) made me very happy!

But ... we've cut back her prednisolone to every other day, today is the second day of skipping, and she's vomited twice so far. The vet told me to call if she started having GI issues, so I did and am waiting for a call back. Her labs on Monday showed a "mild increase" in her ALT (100 is the high end of normal; hers was 106, up from 78 in July) -- which could mean that the chlorambucil is causing liver issues. He said there were no other signs of liver dysfunction, which is good, but they'll do another liver panel in four weeks. I hope we won't have to take her off chlorambucil. I didn't want to put her on it, but it has helped her so much. Here she is, chilling in her current favorite napping spot. :cat:

Awww, sweet Chispa! I love the photo of her little legs (reminds me of the Wizard of Oz when I see legs sticking out :smuggrin:)
Glad to hear she is able to jump on the sofa! Wonderful news, Karen.
I hope the liver number is still in an ok range for her and that the pukes aren't becoming a problem.

That is so great when they start acting like their younger self again! :bighug: I hope the GI issues are just temporary. Lots of hugs for you and kisses on those little feet, she looks very relaxed!

Hey Diane, thanks so much for filling in my last post and tagging Wendy. I did hear back from the vet -- he said to stay the course on cutting back the pred to every other day, since at this point it could be just a coincidence (it's not like she didn't vomit before we cut back the pred). Chispa sends kisses!:kiss::cat:
 
My kitties on chlorambucil had bouncy liver numbers at first, well not Neko but the other two. Current kitty's settled down after a while on the drug. I think Chispa is still relatively new to it? My vets have always been of the mind that cats are allowed to have an item or two on the bloodwork be bad, as long as it's not a trend.

How long has she been on the pred too? She's on a relatively small dose.

Hi Wendy -- thanks for this information; it's encouraging.

She's been on pred for a long time. I can't remember when she started, but I think it was before she became diabetic. I tried to look through old posts, but it updates to the current signature, so no help there.

I'd been hoping the two vomiting incidents were a coincidence, but she vomited a third time around +9. It surprises me because the dose is so little -- I honestly didn't know if it was doing anything. She's had nine doses of chlorambucil so far (= 18 weeks), the last one being eight days ago, but I guess it hasn't fixed everything in there yet. Going back to daily pred as of tomorrow. May try stopping again later on, when she's more stabilized.

A scary question ... If the chlorambucil was going to work, would it have worked already? It's obviously had an effect -- she's gone from vomiting 2-3x/week to average once every couple of weeks. But should it have stopped it completely by now?

Thanks, Kit! She definitely knows how to chill, and she does not sweat the small stuff (unlike other family members, ahem).
