Stella's Condo

Good morning! Everything is in place for Stella but the final #2 Poo. It seems to be on a new afternoon schedule. Stella is happy, content, and her appetite is there. Thanks all who stopped in yesterday in support.

In answer to WendyandNeko, Stella has had random troubles with constipation. Looking back it seems to have been the only problem that could have stressed out her diabetes. Very random though so a vet never prompted putting her on something. I bought a couple of fixes but its never been such a problem that it was anything out of the ordinary. Also, as far as the dose, when I say drops it is right up to the 'zero' line. So whatever miniscule amount is in there is what Stella is getting. I put it to .5U and basicaly push it all out. Then I give Stella her injection.

Also, isn't the 'normal' BG range 60-120? I have seen different numbers posted for normal on a non insulin kitty. For purposes of OTJ what is 'normal'? I will be going on a trip shortly, so Stella will be flying solo and we shall see how her BGs are when I get back. That's in a few days though. I am just wondering if I get back and her BGs are in normal range I will watch and not shoot. Wish us luck on that.

Re: 9/17 Stella AMPS/111

What a great report on Stella this morning. I hope she gives you that poo this afternoon.

Hello! It looks like Stella has gone green again and the drops are working well. :) I am amazed how Stella has done this. Absolutely astounded. I keep wondering, is it the zero carb, the low phosphorous, the blood pressure meds, or her new apartment that caused this. She is a very happy kitty now and very loving. I hope this keeps up even during my travels!!!

I've seen different references for "normal" BG too. But I have tested my civie and a friends cat, and both were in the 50's, so I tend to think 50-60 is also normal. When you consider the different meters, and some slight allowed differences between them, it's not a perfect science.

I was wondering whether you've ever counted the number of drops you actually give Stella. If you wanted a smaller dose you could try squeezing out one or two. But it sounds like your trip plans are timed perfectly.

Loving those numbers, Stella! Keep up the good work and especially keep it going when your mama has to leave for a short bit. You can do it! Hope you had a great day, Mary!
