She was vomiting like mad and miserable and I waited a few hours, after ondenestron and cerenea, buyt she remained awful, so I gave her dexamethasone im. THis resolved the symptoms immediately. I continues with the cerenea and ondanestron, and she felt so pep0py that within the next 4 days she made 2 successful kibble raids. Sigh.

But it was wonderful to see her back to her old self. For months she's been too quiet. Of course, I realized that this was the dexamethasone - not a real improvement - and this knowledge broke my heart. I hadn't remembered clearly how active and happy she used to be. Naturally within 4 or 5 days, she returned to her diminished self. I cannot think of another way to describe the quiet kitty that remained.

Her pancreatic symptoms, however had resolved. I tried to return TiTi to cerenea EOD, for economic reasons - the pills are $5/day. She threw up within 3 days of this regimen, so I now have her on daily cerenea. She's doing fine, and has returned to her new, "old self".

We soldier on.

So nice when they return to their new, "old" self. Keep a close eye after this increase, only a week ago she gave you a 44 with 7u.

Yes, for sure. That's why I tested her at +2.

I miss the perky lil litty I had a few months ago, so I'm not thrilled to see her at her diminished new "old self". Naturally I'm pleased to see her better. But on the whole, I also see that she is gradually declining.

You know, often we remember good things as being better than they actually were. Maybe this is her "old" "old self", but you've amplified it in your memories?

In any case, it's a sad truth that we all decline with age, and so far no one has found a permanent cure, so I would try to enjoy the new "old self" and not pine for the one that probably won't return.

As our kitties get older, they aren't as spunky as they used to be. I hope TiTi continues to feel better and eat for you. Enjoy each moment you have with her. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

It's not the new old self that bothers me so much. It's what it foretells. I have never been one to let my loved ones "go gently into that dark night".
