Happy Thursday/Friday Eve to everyone! Shadow has 4 Ps this morning ....and drank water! they both do not ever go near the water dish anymore with the water i add to their food being enough I guess. But this morning, Shadow took a drink. I know it's the pinks that are bothering him and he seems quiet and sad when he is so high.

Q: Can anyone help me decide what dose the DPS should shoot while I am away? Do you think 1.75u would be good?

I am leaving Saturday morning for 2 weeks...to visit my DD in southern Oregon. DPS comes at 9am/9pm to test feed and shoot and then once during the day at 3pm to test and feed my two. She leaves out plenty of food when she goes so they do have stuff available for the times they are alone. I close bedroom doors so they only have access to the dining room/living room/ kitchen and hallway where I line up the litter boxes on my tiled floor. This way, they cannot get into any hiding places and are out in the open for her when she comes.

This trip, my other DD will not be coming so she promised to come upstairs to our apartment to "visit" with them in the evenings for awhile....my DBIL is also coming to monitor the building in case any emergencies arise...he has his own apartment here but will no doubt be in and out of ours during the day for the computer.

Still, I will miss my darlings...the feel of their fur...their loving natures...who will kiss the top of their heads like their Mama does all the time? :roll: And diving Shadow...oh my....I am hoping that once this bounce clears, he will be getting better numbers. but with less insulin coming in, I have my doubts. This is an ugly bounce indeed.
Any suggestions on the dose for him would be appreciated. thank you all in advance...(I am feeling so sad ...I know I should be looking forward to seeing my DD...and I am...truly I am....but I will miss my two so much, not to mention my concern about them...) *big sigh*

Hi Pat,
I know what a anxious time this is for you, and I can only say that you have everything set up very well for Shadow and Raja, and they will have plenty of company, too. You have a good petsitter and she knows what she is doing. I know that you will be in contact with her and will be able to provide guidance if she needs it. Perhaps a dose of 2 units would be easier for DPS to administer? I hope someone more knowledgeable will be along to help you decide on the dose.

We wish you a fine, safe trip and a lovely visit with your DD. Raja and Shadow will be fine, and they will be so happy to see you when you return.

Ah, yes, Diving Shadow... hmmm... I think I'd tend to agree with Ella and go for the 2.00u dose. That is .25u less than his current dose, which is probably enough of a drop. Plus it is easier to measure. Normally when Shadow earns a decrease you've been shaving. Dropping to 2.00u is more than a shave. Just my opinion.

You sure are lucky to have a pet-sitter that will test for you. I think that adds a nice cushion of safety for you. It isn't YOU testing/shooting of course, but it is better than so many pet-sitters.

I'm glad you will be visiting your daughter in Oregon, I'm sure you will love it out there and she will be so happy to see you.
