Good Morning, Everyone,

We had cataclysmic thunderstorms last night and I had to turn off my computer from time to time. Rusty was unfazed--if attentive. He had a good night of sleeping on the bed, woke us up with squirms, headbutts, and kitty kisses. His AMPS looks like it might be a bit of a bounce. We'll have a better idea later. The shot went in this morning (I think). I have been shooting only on his right shoulder for several months because he seemed annoyed when I tried for the left. But today I decided to go back to alternating sides and successfully "found skin" on the left shoulder side. Rusty still has lingering vetty smell, but I don't think I smelled Lev. Breakfast was consumed in 2 sittings. And he had 1/2 teasp. of the hairball gel for good measure. We also had a brief brushing and now Rusty is relaxing on his pillow on the coffee table.

Nothing much on the agenda for today. This weekend we'll be going down to Camp to get ready for a big paddle on Monday. The weather is supposed to get much colder, with frost predicted for Friday and Saturday nights.

Fall is beginning to appear. The wildflowers and weeds are turning color, there is color in the trees, and the geese have begun to migrate. Here's a photo I took yesterday of the fields near Lake Placid with the High Peaks in the background (Mt. Algonquin, the second highest of the Adirondack High Peaks):

(Can't get it to load. Will try later)

Everyone have a good day.

Ahhhhhhh I love t-storms.....and fall. We had frost last night here :o

Even if this is a mini bounce Rusty looks fabulous! Back to Camp again, Rusty logs as many traveling miles as Leo does.

You have a good day as well.

Here's another attempt to load my early Autumn in the High Peaks pic:

Re: 9/14 Rusty AMPS 147

Nice # for Rusty this morning! Hoping he'll surf in the  s for you today. I'm glad someone got storms last night. We're still very dry here. *sigh* Have a great day guys!!! :-D

Re: 9/14 Rusty AMPS 147

That's a great picture and neat to see the High Peaks in the background, and it sure looks like an ealy Fall. I do miss the Fall season. A lot of people who move here from the miss say they miss the seasons.
Rusty is looking good even if it is a little bounce. I always shoot on one side, too, and really should try the reverse. Have a great day.

Re: 9/14 Rusty AMPS 147

Good start to the day, Rusty and Tess are hanging out today. Count me among the people who miss Fall! Especially the crunch and smell of walking through ankle deep leaves.

Re: 9/14 Rusty AMPS 147, +6 178

I guess it was a fur shot this morning. Bummer!
The thunderstorms last night knocked out our phone service (but not DSL, which comes over the phone line. How weird!). It is next to impossible to get to a screen where you can get service! I'm thinking of switching to cable. Can't get a repairman until a week from today. another Bummer!!

beautiful picture!

we're still having quite warm weather...but I'm loving it because i'm having the best yields from the garden I've had in many years!

there are few things i love more than fresh produce i only have to run 30 feet to get!

bummer on the furshot...but sounds like Rusty's feeling better after his vet visit...

Ella --

What is the hairball gel you're giving Rusty? Have you checked on the ingredients? A lot of them contain some form of sugar.

Re: 9/14 Rusty PMPS 198, +4.5 151

Hi guys!! I am so sorry to be visiting you so late.... the day really got away from me today.

I loved the photo! Some day I must get up to your neck of the woods. I would really like to see it for real. It's beautiful! And you guys are getting frost already? omg... I guess fall is really coming. I really do love fall. bummer on the storms last night - they really must have been intense...

I hope Rusty's numbers can come down,. I wonder if, as sienne suggested, it could be the hairball stuff? I hadn't thought of that.

Camp??? did I read CAMP??? Rusty! We are coming ya know.... we gots to come to camp. I LOVE CAMP STU!!!!! ~~ Mannie

Hi again,
Sienne, I'm using the one recommended by Jill: NaturVet. She said in someone's condo that it is FD friendly. Ingredients: soybean oil, hydrogenated vegetable oil, cod liver oil, flaxseed oil, di-Alpha tocopherol Acetate (Vit. E), sorbitol, soy protein, chicken flavor, lecithin, tuna flavor, maple flavor, beeswax, methylcellulose, chamomile, catnip.

Perhaps sorbitol (which, I see just now is a plant-based alcohol, non-sugar sweetener) is not good, but the rest of the ingredients look ok. In any event, I have only given it occasionally and in very small quantities (about 1/4 teaspoon), when it seems that he wants to get rid of a hairball.

Ni ni everyone, Looks like Rusty is coming down this evening. He is really feeling so much better after his dental. Maybe we'll see green tomorrow. I'd like to think so.

Everyone have a good night,

Ella & Rusty

So sorry about the fur shot......I know it has to be challenging when you are having to use the same side all the time and then you try to switch sides.

I'm glad he's doing better as far as feeling well.

It soudns beautiful up there....I'm glad you get to go to Camp Stu again. Tobey can't wait to come visit and he wants his Auntie Ellabean to take him canoeing.

Sleep well.

i think you may have me mixed up with someone else. lol!
i'm not so sure about the sorbitol and maple flavoring ingredients in this gel. the only hairball gel i highly recommend as being FD friendly is Vetbasis, but it's been extremely hard to find for quite awhile now. petroleum free vaseline is supposed to be a good alternative. others have used a pat of unsalted butter, olive oil, or salmon oil.

Hi Jill,
Thanks for the correction!! I'm sorry for the false attribution! I'll have to look up Vetbasis. Thanks for the hairball-gel alternatives, too!

Ella

Nice start for Rusty today. It's so cool he's unphased by the storms, my kitties are terrified.

What a gorgeous pic, you're so lucky I have a concrete view outside my window!
