Morning...

Chester's struggle with the reds is continuing, but I'm sticking to the 2.5 dose, at least until Thursday evening when I'll be looking at three days off.

Are you not looking for an attempt at remission?

That would be lovely...something we'll definitely shoot for. But for right now I'd settle for more than one day in a row with some "blue" skies! Thanks for all the reassurance that I'm going in the right direction. I'll try to be patient and not jump the gun with raising the dose. He's acting perfectly normally, which means constantly searching the house for something to get into.

My husband saw him sleeping yesterday Sunday afternoon and got worried that he wasn't feeling well. I had to tell him to relax, the poor cat had just been playing all afternoon by himself as all the other furbies snoozed. He's got to sleep sometime!

Yes, I still use the AlphaTrak and will at least until the 150 strips that I ordered are gone. ;-) I know it runs higher than human ones, but I still feel that at least I'm comparing apples to apples when I tell my vet the numbers and don't have to convert or do math (hate math!) to figure out the number that they would be seeing on their meter. I do have a nice little collection of other meters, though, including the Precision Xtra for ketones.

Had a mini-heart attack yesterday at pmps...Chester threw a 557! :o Called the vet, ready to throw my little 2.5 dose out the window. Then thought twice, checked the meter and found that, yes...it was coded for my dog. Redid the test and got a (still high) 395...the same he had been an hour previously.

Re: 9/14 Chester amps

Hi....I just responded to your other post.
Since you have all your info in this post you can go back and read what I wrote in your other one about edited when you make a mistake. My mistake was I should have read both posts before I wrote in one.
You can add AMPS to this post.

I don't think I have posted in your condo before so welcome.

Re: 9/14 Chester amps

Hi Jaye..All you have to do is add the AMPS number to the header of this post and then this will be your condo for the day.
Miriam will have to go back and delete the post she wrote in the other condo so that you will then be able to delete that one and keep this one going, okay?
Then, once her post is deleted, you can go back to the other one and delete it okay?

Good job adding the "Alpha Track" to your signature...thank you! We have to keep remembering that the numbers run a little higher on that meter. Your plan is to hold this does until you can be around to raise it, right? This is your 6th cycle on this one...
Nice job on getting those spot checks last night! :thumbup

Hope Chester's Liver will calm down a little...it is throwing all those hormones out because of the nice blue and yellow you got I bet...it just needs to be trained. In LTS (Liver Training School) Hope you have a good day Jaye!

Good job Jaye...I PMd Miriam to delete her post (If someone posts a reply, you cannot delete your post) but that was good that you put that in your header! :thumbup

I would definitely stick with this dose. You're seeing some bouncing -- Chester bounced into the reds due to the blue last night. It can take up to 72 hours for a bounce to clear so be patient.

You're doing great, Jaye. Chester has had blues and greens, he'll get there again, and you'll know you got to the dose safely.

Hi Jaye,
hang in there k?- it will get better and easier - I see you are using Alpha Trak - thanks for adding that to your signature! That's a big help!
lots of patience needed :YMHUG:

Chester is so sweet! Love tuxedo kitties!

welcome jaye and chester!
i appreciate you adding the alphatrak meter to your signature. hope chester's bounce clears quickly.
hope to see you posting often...

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!

It's kind of funny, after months of being nervous because the dose didn't seem high enough for him, now I'm trying to stay determined to try to keep it low. Tonight was his 7th cycle on 2.5 and I'm starting to waver, I'm afraid. I'd sure like another day like Sept. 12 (except for the high pre-shot).

Thursday night is my "window of opportunity" because I'll be around for a few days if I need to change the dose. What should I look for for evidence that it's time for a dose change?

Yup, Chester is a great tuxedo kitty. More personality than all my other cats combined. I found him in my father's barn on Christmas day, 2000. It was the first Christmas after my mother had passed and I maintain that he was a gift from her. The German Shepard was barking at him like crazy and I had no clue how to rescue him from the rafters until I noticed a ladder right beneath him. I climbed it and he climbed immediately on to my shoulder. I drove almost 500 miles with him the next day perched on my shoulder (he as about 6 months old). Every night he still does the same thing (of course, it's when I'm trying to sleep but I cherish it every time).

I'm wondering if you may have to wait til those days off so you can catch some mid cycle numbers like +5 and +6 in the AMPS cycle and if you are up late one night soon, one in there too.
Others will suggest options too, so hang in there ok?

Mid cycle numbers will help a lot - also known as nadir/peak. Some kitties see nadir early and some later in the cycle.
Your job is to find Chester's nadir. It's a lot of fun @-)
No seriously, let's see how the week plays out and others will chime in as you keep us posted. ok?

Wow, that was a quick response!

I haven't had any luck finding a consistent nadir with Chester (which shouldn't really surprise me with my little man). I'll check at +7 tonight, I suppose, but sleep has to be in my plans for sometime tonight. Actually got sick last week from lack of sleep!
