How is the eating experiment going? Any improvement with civvie and Garland getting along since she has a pretty kitty kollar?

Eating seems fine. Its hard to tell. I know shes not going hungry LOL She goes and takes bites throughout the day. She ate almost 2 FF cans yesterday, plus all her tube feeds. Shes happy, playful, and lays around all comfy as if she was never sick LOL

The Connick thing is still an issue. He can stand the sight of her now. But still wont get near her. Garland doesnt hiss at him, so obviously she knows who he is bc she is usually the one who would usually get all bent out of shape w a new kitty. But Connick (im guessing) still thinks Ive brought a new cat home instead of knowing this is his littermate for the last 12 years. Im hoping once the tube comes out and I can give them both really good baths, that it will solve the problem. If that doesnt work, then im going to get some of those plug in thinga-ma-gigs. Im sad they are like this. Im so used to them being each others snuggle buddies, support, company when Im gone, friends... they would lick each others faces and play together. sigh...

I wonder if the tube is what is freaking him out - she's got to look and smell totally different to him with that in. I bet after a day or so of it being out and her being cleaned up and smelling 'right' again he'll adjust. Glad Garland is eating on her own so well!

Have you tried swapping their bedding to exchange scents? Maybe rub her down with a towel and place it in Connick's sleeping area?

Could you try feeding Connick in sight of Garland, and very gradually moving his dish closer to her?

I am sure that you have your hands full, but as she recovers, you may have to do a bit of work re-introducing them to each other. Tena and Curry did some gradual, but very successful, work with getting her two kitties back together after some aggression between them. Whe the time comes, you might contact her and get some pointers.

Thanks for some tips :) When I give them catnip on their scratchy thingy, they both will get on it together and the hissing is very minimal. (anything for some cat nip LOL) I have to feed them separately bc of the gravy is Connicks food . They both sleep on my bed... Ive tried taking a sock and rubbing it on both of them, back and forth, to transfer the smell. He is just really all worked up about this. He once was on kitty prozac bc he got depressed when I moved into a boyfriends house (many many years ago) who had a dog. Hes sensitive

Glad all is normal!!! And I'm so happy Garland is acting like her old self but bummer on the Connick issue. I wish Tena were around more in LL because she had to reinto her cats after a tussle. She worked with an animal behaviorist and it was quite the process but one her girls would actually attack the other...it wasn't just hissing.

Hope some of the suggestions work.

Normal is what we are looking for!! I'm so glad that things are improving and I'm sure once the tube is out the two will be buds again. Once again Violet, you are the best! You took all this on and weathered the storm!
