She's pretty congested. Poor girl. I have a call into the vet for tomorrow about switching A/B - possibly to azithromycin (my suggestion - don't know what the vet will say).

She managed to eat about 1 1/2 Tbsp Wellness and FF breakfast. I steamed her while I took a shower for about 20 min as well.

Very tired this morning. Lots of stress - horse isn't doing well as of last night... Not eating well, possibly cuz he is very lame on one front foot and I'm wondering if it's bothering him so much it's throwing him off his feed. Who knows? I couldn't find any obvious cause for his lameness - no heat/swelling/etc. He ate up a pound of carrots, no problem, but he's not liking the grain. Someone told me it's a new batch of grain, which could also be a reason for him to not eat if it tastes funny to him - so could be unrelated to lameness. He's eating up his hay pretty well. ** Sigh **

I'm going btb with Kasha for a while.

Re: 8/8 Kasha AMPS 96

Hi Krys,
I've been trying to keep up with some of the condos and so sorry to hear Kasha is still congested. I hope another antibiotic may help. I hope you can find out what's wrong with your horse's leg. Gee, you have so much stress lately; I hope you can get a break. We are sending some positive thoughts and prayers. Maggie says hello to Blue. :YMHUG:

there is way too much stress in your life, I'm worried about you. I hope you can find some rest today or perhaps do something totally silly and fun. I want you to laugh a good belly laugh today.

And I'll pray for your horse and poor Kasha too.

Re: 8/8 Kasha AMPS 96

I gave her some homeopathic sinus/congestion pills at around +5.5 and I think they are responsible, at least in part, for the 30 point jump to 102 at +6 from 70 at +4.7. She's out sunning herself on the front porch for the first time since the dental. I fell asleep on the couch last night and woke up around 4:30 am - Kasha was in her bed near the couch, which is also a first since the dental. She has primarily been spending her time in the bedroom, since it's darkest and quiet.

Internet research today on chronic cat snufflers. Dian had mentioned she gave Wheezer antibiotic eye drops to get into the sinuses - I also read that today, used in conjuction with oral A/B. Sounds like doxycycline or azithromycin might be good ones to try... Depending on how Kasha is doing tomorrow, we may go into the vet... I have a call in about changing A/B, but if I can get in, it might be good for the vet to take a look at her. I hate it. But it is what it is.

Re: 8/8 Kasha AMPS 96

I don't know if the jump in numbers is due to the pills. Kasha bumped up yesterday AM, as well. It may just be that Kasha's numbers are rising from the nadir.

She ended up eating around 2 Tbsp Wellness for dinner. And that doesn't include the 2+ Tbsp water I added to it to make it an easier consistency for my little snuffler. So - I'd say she ate well. I opted to give her 1/4 chlor trimeton to help cuz she's so snuffly. I considered cyproheptadine, but she didn't seem to need the appetite help as much and I think if I gave her enough to help her nose, she'd be glassy-eyed and goofy. So far, I think she'll eat better if she wasn't so congested.

She came out to the porch for a while... went up on her box. Not spending all her time in the bedroom. Those are good signs. It's her first full day w/o pain meds and she seems to be doing well.

I think I'm going to take a walk.

Nice numbers Krys! I hope Kasha feels better soon, and your horse too! My goodness, everything at once! Good luck with the research, and with the vet too. I'm sure you will find something that works, sometimes you just have to keep trying different things until you find the right one.

it sounds like Kasha is feeling much better. Maybe the pain meds had her feeling dopey and now those are getting out of her system. I hope you can get the horse fixed up as well as you have Kasha.

Sounds like she might be feeling a little better. That's good news! Hope the horse is feeling better too...it's all so stressful when our animals aren't healthy. Take care of yourself too!

Hey Krys!

I spent a good part of 20 years as a horse shoer, and I can offer that a sore foot can make a horse go off his feed. Is he only sore in one foot? A short trim can inflame the laminae in the hoof wall and is extremely painful. Is he still on bute? Can the vet see him?

I hope you got some well needed R&R today.

Hi Krys, It's good news that Kasha is feeling a bit better and enjoying some of her favorite places to sit and sleep. I do so hope that your horse will be feeling better soon, too. Lots of good thoughts and healing vines are heading your way tonight and let tomorrow be a good day for you and your 4-footed family.

Hugs to you all,

Ella & Stu

Sending feel better vines to Kasha's stuffed nose and Tigger's sore hoof and Krys' concerns.
