Hello!
It's Cain's one month anniversary of being OTJ!!

Funny how fast I get out of habit of testing daily and making a condo here.
Cain's doing well. A little too well. Due to how often I have to feed Brownie, he's probably around 15-16lbs right now. The scale here at home doesn't work and I haven't had the spare cash to buy another. And I just took a cat to the vet and the meowing on the way up makes me unhappy. So the taking Cain to the vet to weigh him option hasn't been appealing. But he's playing every so often, definitely running around the house a little bit after going to the litter box , and as you can see on the spread sheet, sticking to his favorite 70s. His weight is my only worry on him right now. The vet yesterday was happy to hear Cain was off insulin. I think he even quoted a statistic to me I think came right off that paperwork I gave him. The Methyl B12 I'm giving him daily seems to be helping him. He's almost tippy toes again on his legs. And his coat is looking better.
I take him outside every so often so he can eat grass and wander around a bit. I just have to be careful cause crazy ants are still out here in full force. We've managed to keep them out of the house (as far as we can tell) with the occasional intrusion. But when the grass outside looks like a ton of ants running through it when you look closely at the ground in the areas I would take him too, it doesn't make me want to take him outside.
But during the hotter part of the day they seem to hide a bit and Cain can go out while I watch him. Diatomaceous Earth has been working well to knock them down around the house and my car, until it rained finally. Which reminds me we need to get more for when we get another dry spell. Not that we aren't currently having a dry spell, with very hot temps :-|, but it's supposed to have some rain this weekend. The baby powder is good for inside as well as the earth.
Brownie, on the other hand, has been eating a lot. I took her to the vet yesterday and the vet increased the concentration of her Methimazole a little to see if we can get her hyperthyroid under control. She's 6lbs right now which is 1 lb higher than the last time I took her to the vet last year but she's definitely lost weight. You can see it on her hind legs. As soon as the new concentration comes in, the vet says we should see results in a few weeks. I hope so. Her other options, outside of trying to get the medication to control it, is surgery or the radiation treatment. There might have been a third but I can't remember. Since she's 14 years old, I hope the medication can get her condition back under control. She's still playing and oh is she still good at meow and crying until we feed her aka the alarm without a snooze.
So I'm doing what I can to help her.
The vet calls her ancient kitty. Poor girl.
So that's the update. Good healing wishes to the kitties & beans that need them and many hugs to Ann for her loss.
