Hi Everyone,

We were so exhausted last night that I didn't get to many condos. I hope to remedy that over the course of today. Rusty had a good night. We all slept soundly after the excitement of the family weekend (when we never got to bed before 1 A.M. and then, of course, had to get up at 6 A.M. for AMPS, etc. etc.). He has a pretty good AMPS this morning. (It is nighttime-food influenced.) The shot this morning was a "blood" shot (I nicked a capillary), but I think most of it got in. Rusty ate about half of his "lung treat" and we are about to have a combing and the second sitting of breakfast. It's a beautiful sunny day (so far!) and I have to get out to the post office (and later, a bike ride). I really feel the lack of exercise (cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry don't count as exercise  ). Rusty spent a lot of time outdoors over the weekend. He is very good and always stays near the back stoop, where he can hide behind the roof posts and stalk the chipmunks and squirrels.

Our weekend was GREAT! My 90-year-old brother looks good and is very sharp but doesn't walk as well as he used to. My 86-year-old sister is just fine (next week she's coming down to camp to do some paddling with us). It was fun seeing nieces (2 of them plus a niece-in-law) and nephews (2 of them). We all had a great time looking at old photo albums and reading my mother's diary of the 3-week canoe-camping trip my parents did in the summer of 1922. On Sunday we went to the beach at a local lake and the "kids" tried out our canoes. They also climbed a small mountain.

Mariko is in our thoughts today.

Wishing you all a fine day and sending healing vines to all in need,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 8/5 Rusty AMPS 199

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend w/ your family. Rust was a perfect host too.  On the kids activities, I'm guessing they are about my age!

Re: 8/5 Rusty AMPS 199

I'm so glad that you had such a fantastic weekend. Family is so important, and it's wonderful when we get to spend time with them. It sounds like Rusty enjoyed the weekend, too. Poor squirrels and chipmunks....

Have a great day, Ella!

Re: 8/5 Rusty AMPS 199, +5.5 38

Hi again,
Sometimes a "blood" shot produces an earlier nadir. We'll keep an eye on Rusty this afternoon. I doubt that I will take the "automatic" reduction in these circumstances. He enjoyed some outdoor time this morning.

Yup, those "kids" are all in their 50s, and two of them are approaching 60. I am a lot younger than my brother and sisters and all 10 of my nieces and nephews are closer to me in age than I am to my brother and sisters. My brother is a World War II vet.

Off for a short bike ride. Rain is threatening.

Glad you had a fun weekend. No reduction? confused_cat Good luck either way. I don't know enough about dosing to understand but I know you are a pro!!

Re: 8/5 Rusty AMPS 199, +5.5 38

Wow, we've never had a "blood" shot, but it's good to know it can reduce the BG. I hope Rusty comes up a little for you and surfs.

Sounds like a wonderful time with your family. It's great that your brother and sister are still so healthy and active. It sounds like you were all raised in a healthy, active environment, and that contributes to aging well, I think.

I hope you got your bike ride in before the rain came.

Re: 8/5 Rusty AMPS 199, +5.5 38, +8 49

I don't think that blood shots reduce BG, but they seem to produce an earlier nadir (Rusty is on Lev and usually nadirs between +7 and +8).

Re: 8/5 Rusty AMPS 199, +5.5 38, +8 49

I hope Rusty surfs a little higher for you. I'm glad you had such a good time with your family.

Re: 8/5 Rusty AMPS 199, +5.5 38, +8 49, PMPS 114 reducie

So I took the 1-drop reduction. Back to a "straight" 1.25 units (1.89mm on the digital calipers, Terumo syringe). Rusty had a good day resting up from the weekend. I got out on my bike for a 10-mile spin on my "town" route.

Good luck on that reduction. Rusty looked like he really meant it today! That was the rocky part of the lagoon.

The weekend sounds fabulous with all your family, but it must have felt good to get out and exercise today.
