Yesterday's Cop-out

Yeah - one more day at .75U, then I'm pretty sure we're on our way up. It's a bummer, but I know we've got to get him in a good place before he can go down - if he can go down at all. It's hardly the end of the world if he needs insulin for the rest of his life.

WCR: BOOGER! Got into the dog food last night AGAIN. If only Winnie wouldn't be such an old biddy and just EAT. cat(2)_steam
Well, not much we can do about it now. I've noticed he tends to act up the higher his BG is. Today is going to be fuuuun. Bleh... still tired.

Have a good day everybody. :)

Rufus will get there, you'll see. Keep up the good work and it will pay off.
Hope you have a great end of August

Worse: I found him trying to climb into the storage island in our kitchen - he was going after the bag of Merrick's B.G. dry food we kept for emergencies. When I tickled his tail to get his attention he just turned his head around at me and gave me this "Yeah?" look. No shock, no sudden scampering away, lol.

Our real problem right now is that Winnie often refuses to eat (or decides to eat quite a while after we feed her). She's old and doesn't have a very reliable appetite. So Rufus (who is the only pet who can get upstairs on his own) could eat in the guest room or something - he'd just have to stay there until we had determined whether or not Winnie was going to eat so we could refrigerate the food until morning/evening. I don't think that would work very well.

To be honest, last night was my fault. We had my brothers and sister over here and after feeding the animals, I went out on the deck to socialize, completely forgetting about our furry little shark. When it finally popped back into my head (my sister began discussing cat food - she's very excited about getting her cat off the Urinary S/O) I ran back inside to find a clean bowl. It's obvious by Rufus' numbers that he was the culprit.

I think that Rufus will stop trying to eat her food as much when we switch him to the raw and feed him in small meals throughout the day. More nutrition for him - so he ought to feel full. Maybe we should switch Winnie to that schedule as well (her stomach is pretty delicate right now - i don't think she could handle the adjustment to the raw). We might be able to entice her to eat a few bites here and there all day instead of overwhelming her with a full bowl of food every morning/evening like it is now.

Ah, these "open concept" houses. No doors to separate the kids!

Well, with his AMPS I kind of expected a day like this, so I can't say I'm surprised or anything. Tomorrow we go up to 1U, and hopefully that will give him a boost in the right direction.

I planned on getting more tests in today but two things happened:
1) I fell asleep on the couch (it's an evil, sleep-inducing couch!) and slept through our +3, so I caught one at +5, instead.
2) With the +5 I wasted THREE strips. Two were Not Enough Blood, and one was a Took Too Long. He wasn't behaving, which I'm sure is rather obvious. As a result - no more strips. I figured we were still good, though, because I had strips coming today... except they didn't come until 5:30pm. There's no point in doing anything but laughing.

Well, tomorrow ought to be a better day for testing and test results.
