Happy Caturday Everyone!

Even though Alex is HI this morning he is a happy purry boy (wellllll, sort of half purry, half whiny). He ate a good breffis..as usual and he is taking is morning nappis with his bro'. All p's are in order.
Mom is going to get her hair cut and the roots done (sheesh I NEED that) ohmygod_smile
and when I get back from errands I can start monitoring my little bozo.

Oh yeah..we switched back from Lev to Lantus today. Please keep your fingers and paws crossed that this might make a difference for my confused_cat confused_cat confused_cat
boy in the weeks to come.

Have a great day, y'all :-D

Re: 8/28 Alex AMPS HI UGH..

well I think I did under dose him, so I'm (we're not headed off in the right direction). I was prepared for this, but I never am prepared for this..if you know what I mean? *sigh*

Re: 8/28 Alex AMPS,+2-477,+5.5-489

He does have to build his shed, right? So that could explain these numbers.

FIngers and toes all crossed!!

He wouldn't have to build a shed if I had dosed him correctly. Bumping him up to 5.0 now after having spoken to Carolyn who's having puter issues.

VENT: Every time I use the Precision Xtra Meter I hate it more. Just took blood and Urine together.

Urine said trace ketones or maybe between negative and trace. Dipped 2 sticks. Blood ketone said 1.6 two minutes later (when I came home from doing errands befor, Alex's reading on Precision Xtra was 3.4!!!!! According to the below findings.... :( meanwhile, he's yelling at me for his dinner!

READ BELOW

Blood Ketone Reading Indications
Above 1.5 mmol/l
Readings above 1.5 mmol/l in the presence of hyperglycemia indicate that you may be at risk for developing diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Contact your healthcare provider immediately for advice.
0.6 to 1.5 mmol/l
Readings between 0.6 and 1.5 mmol/l may indicate the development of a problem that may require medical assistance. Follow your healthcare provider's instructions.
Below 0.6 mmol/l
Readings below 0.6 mmol/l are in the normal range.

Can anyone see the similarity in the 2 readings? I sure can't? I think that the ONLY think the meter is good for is to tell you IF there are ketones present and I stand by that statement.

I can't rely on anything that has failed this test more than 3 times in a row.....or maybe it doesn't work for cats but I wouldn't recommend it as a reason to rush to the vet. Seriously.

If someone can explain this, please feel welcome ohmygod_smile
