Today would have been Alice's original mom Juliette's birthday. I first met Juliette 11 years ago when she came to work as a receptionist in my office. My co-workers and I are going out to her favorite restaurant for lunch in her honor today. I really miss her and I know Alice, Charlie, and John do too.
I will call the vet this morning to check on John. Without the IV, his off-the-chart kidney numbers have probably not come down much, but hopefully the subcutaneous fluids have helped some. I'm trying to "think positive" about it, but with this advanced kidney disease, it's hard to be optimistic. Hard for me anyway. Just wish this wasn't all happening on his momma's birthday. :-|
Some good news: Molly, my dry food addict, actually asked for canned food this morning!
I gave her a little dry, but she followed me around crying and didn't stop until I put a scoop of Fancy Feast in her bowl which she promptly gobbled up! Progress! :thumbup
Edited to add: And now the bad news. John has not improved at all and has not eaten. The vet doesn't think he will last much longer, just a matter of days at this rate. She said I could bring him home, basically to die here, or they could put him to sleep this afternoon.
