Hard to believe this is a amps without food he was 197 at +10 go figure on this boy he is still not eating but acting better more alert purring at test time started at the +10 has eaten 5 freeze dried salmon treats so far thats it I have a lot of food lined up to try to get him to eat even dry right now just want to him eat at this point anything to entice him he nibbled one piece of dry and sniffed the rest and is moving about rather then acting like he is just dead which is how he was all night long would not hardly even lift his head so this is a improvement no more vomiting so far. I am really thinking its maybe the raw bag maybe at this point I will be getting him 2 cases of merricks today if he keeps doing better he likes that and avoiding our nuggets. This is Do Lou's vet's sx day I am waiting on him to call me back I may still be taking him in will know within the hour. Send more snowflakes and healing vines his way thanks everyone I am a mental mess right now and have a killer migraine

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 258

Take care Lisa - I hope Do Lou feels better soon. It is good to read that he is more alert, and interested in the treats. Mannie and I send as many healing vines as we can muster. Hang in there.

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 258

Thinking of you both and checking for your posts Lisa....I am glad to hear he is moving around a little now...
and that there has been no more vomiting. (but he doesn't have anything in his stomach really, does he?)
Glad you will be in touch with your vet within the hour....sending healing vines to Do Lou...feel better boy! :YMHUG:
I feel so bad for you with your migraine too....((Lisa))

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 258

Lisa, I hope Do Lou continues to feel better and starts eating. Sending more healing vines for DL, and you too...so sorry you have a migraine along with Do Lou being sick! :YMHUG:

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 258

Ok talked to my vet he still thinks we just need to watch him since he is more himself but I am to bring him in if for any reason I think he is going downhill but since he is acting a bit better he is purring again now something he did not do at all yesterday I have the window open for him to cheer him up something I never do since he has allergies but trying to pep him up he is watching the birds right now. Hoping as day goes on things will keep improving I have taken my migranal dose so once it kicks in I am running to feeders supply which is only 10 min away to get some merricks for him and some more baby food to have on hand. Thanks for all the vines everyone is sending Love you guys (((((HUGS))))

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 258

Keeping a watchful eye sounds good. Are you still giving Pepsid?

It's so hard to sort out if this could be pancreatitis or some bad food. FWIW, I was happy with the Feline's Pride raw when I was ordering. I picked up another brand (Natures Variety?) of raw. I didn't like the way it looked and neither cat would go near it. I started making my own since I could be more sure of the quality of the chicken and it's freshness.

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 258

Hope Do Lou improves through the day! Poor babies, they cant tell us when they dont feel goo, they just look gloomy!!
Healing vines to dear Do Lou!!--HUGS!!

This is primal that I have and it was this last bag that I did take note the nugget color looked a bit diff after the thaw he had eaten 2 of these. So I do wonder I have yet to try natures variety raw have their freeze dried raw though and yes have thought many times about getting a grinder and making my own now more then ever. This has really freaked me out and if it does turn out to be the food vet and I are going to culture a nugget with our micro lab so I will know one way or the other if its the food.

And yes we are still on pepcid have to get some more when I go out I am almost out

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 258

Sending healing & eating vines to Do Lou this morning. I'm glad he's a little better and I hope he eats more today. I also hope your migraine goes away, Lisa. Take care of yourself. :YMHUG:

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 258

I am with Sienne on the raw food thing. I too use Feline's Pride and use the chicken I buy myself. At least I know it is fresh and frozen right away. It's a bit of a pain, but I know that is good for them....so I do it willingly and happily...

Did your vet have any suggestions if it is from the bad raw food?
I wonder what would be the meds if any for that...what would it be?
Does he have diarrhea or any other symptoms?
Hope Do Lou will continue to feel better today...hope you will too Lisa... :YMHUG:

No diarrhea yet he has not gone since yesterday and you do wonder if it was the food that he would have diarrhea so IDK Pat as far as meds its mostly fluids more then anything for support while the pet gets thru it kinda like us with food poisoning and I know some vets will use baytril as well but it can be hard on stomach at same time there may be other abs to use that I am not familiar with I have never had a animal be sick from food as of yet. He did purr again with this last test and ate another freeze dried puff of salmon.

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 268+1 274

It sounds like he's feeling better. I'll continue to send feel better vines.
Since you already have the dose reduced, maybe this is a good time to explore Libby's idea of the 3u. His numbers look pretty good here.

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 268+1 274

Glad to hear Do Lou's starting to feel better. Hope your migraine goes away quickly so you can feel better too Lisa.

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 268+1 274

Lisa, I just hold my breath, reading your updates, remembering what I went through with Checkers last week, I feel so bad for you to see Do Lou sick and cant' help him.
Please keep him hydrated. I didn't know to do that with Checkers when he was sick.

So glad he seems to be feeling better.
Hope your headache is gone by now.

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 268+1 274

lisa, he's just not eating enough.
does the vet think he's stable enuf for a feeding tube? that's what i'd suggest.
even with eating mostly normally but vomiting a lot cleo's liver went into crisis so i'm a strong advocate of tube feeding if the kitty won't eat otherwise.
or ask WCF for a link to her video of her DH syringe feeding meowzy. it annoys them at first but they get used to it eventually. just a little forced feeding or tube feeding may activate the appetite again.
how about gerber's chicken baby food (2nd stage)? i recommend that highly. that or rotisserie chicken.

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 268+1 274

Hi Lisa, I hope that Do Lou is feeling much better this evening and that you and your vet can determine the cause of his problems. It does sound like it might be a food thing. Anyway, we're continuing to send all those healing vines and snowflakes and are including some for your migraine! Hope you both will be feeling good soon.

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 268+1 274 +9 174 update

Well after having to drive all the way to Simpsonville Ky to get Merrick food since my local store has decided there was not enough demand for it cat(2)_steam cat(2)_steam I get home with my Merricks and baby food and he had eaten a little dm dry about 1/2 teaspoon and he ate 3 tablespoons of the baby food  and he has been drinking on his own also is still eating some freeze dried halo treats as well so we are making baby steps you can tell he still feels very bad but much better then yesterday so just hoping that tomorrow will be better of course he would not eat the merrick food tonight but at least I have it now

Re: 8/24 Do Lou amps 268+1 274+9 174

Of course, he won't eat the Merrick's, after you drove specifically to buy it.
Lisa, I hope he feels even better tomorrow.

 you are so right Barb I feel so awful made myself go even with this terrible migraine that has not let up guess its a lot of worry stress fueling it and I rushed in to check on him even though DH was home and fixed him his cowboy cookout that he loves and he proceeded to bury it

I am also having a migraine stupid moment I have NO idea what I did this morning but somehow I have made all the posts and threads larger and the condos are all in bold does anyone know what I did or clicked or checked this morning in my migraine stupor :?: :?: :?:

typical cat, you go to all this trouble to get the Merricks and now he won't eat it. They're enough to drive us crazy, yet we continue to go to all kinds of lengths for them.

I feed Nature's Variety raw to my cats, they love the organic chicken. The rabbit used to be their favourite but Canada won't allow it in anymore once they found out the rabbits come from China. It would be nice to make my own but I barely have time to feed myself. Good luck with whatever you decide to feed Do Lou

This sounds like what Alex and Jackson had a few months back(July actually)...when they were vomiting and wouldn't really eat for a few days. Alex had good numbers then also, because of not eating. It sounds like Do Lou is doing at least as well t this point if not better than my guys did. I had to syringe feed both of them for about 4 days. Alex went forward and then backward because I kind of overfed him when I saw he was feeling better and then he got sick all over again and became inappetant again. I still don't really know what it was, food or a virus since they both got it 2 days apart, but regardless they are both fine in the eating department now and it didn't take more than 5 or 6 days days for either of them. I did use Royal Canin Recovery because it was easy for me to Syringe the amounts I wanted them to get at each feeding, it's very digestible for bellies that haven't been eating much, it seems to be very tasty and it's also LC and they got baby food turkey snacks. Without that food, and fluids every day, they both would have been on a feeding tube I think (especially poor Jackson). That worked for them in case you were in need of any other suggestions.

I think this sounds food related as well. Sending healing and eating vines to Do Lou. Come on baby, start feeling better. (I also get very bad migraines..they make you do strange things. However, the fonts on your posts don't appear any differently than anyone else's to me)

Love,
Caryl, Alex & Jackson

lisa, to fix the size, hit the control key and the minus key on the numeric keypad together.

Yes he usually will eat RC recovery I tried it this morning (not syringe feeding) but at least it did not come to that he has since eaten most of his cowboy cookout that was sprinkled with dust :-D :-D

Hey Do Lou, good for you to eat your Cowboy Cookout. I had that for dinner, too. Feel better, man. I'll bring you something nice to eat from the party if you don't feel up to coming to Florida tonight.

Stu

Hi Lisa, Your fonts look totally normal. I think that whatever combination of keys you hit, it only affected the view on your computer. Hope your migraine goes away tonight.

thanks Stu you can save something for Do Lou I think he is going to have to miss this party I do not think he is up to partying yet :-D

All the kitties will be on the phone to say hello to Do Lou...they miss him already...
Hoping that he feels better and better as the night goes by. And you too Lisa...hope your migraine will start to diminish soon.... ((Lisa & Do Lou))

It sounds like Do Lou is feeling at least a little better today, I'm so glad! I hope your migraine goes away soon Lisa! Of course he would turn up his nose at the food you drove so far for, that's what kitties do, right? At least he decided to eat it later on!

Still feeling better eating some more baby food and some cowboy cookout and acting more like Do Lou talked to the vet a bit ago and we are going back to lantus it was pretty much a mutual decision. He knows nothing about Lev and a wee bit about Lantus so I think he felt better with him going back on something he feels like he knows a little about even if his FD knowledge is not what it should be I still trust him to take care of my boy for the most part he is a good vet just not in all areas.

Im glad to hear you are seeing a little more of Do Lou return as the hours go by. It will be interesting to see what the tests come back as with the food. Its great you have the resources to do that!

I had considered switching Latte back to Lantus before the last month of heck. I wanted to ride it out and see how things fell after her infections cleared up. We never got that far, unfortunately. So you are not the only one (along with Alex, right?). I hope things go well with the switch.

You are doing a great job. Do Lou is very lucky to have you for a bean!

Thanks Carolyn and I do wonder a bit mostly since Lev is a albumin binding drug I knew this going into the switch but the way it is metabolized in the cat well ECID and it may not have a darn thing to do with how Do Lou has been feeling lately but like I told my vet tonight this thought has been sitting in my head prior to this stomach attack I just had not addressed it yet. We have already switched back as of tonight's shot we are so off sch right now anyway he is still feeling better hope it keeps up and I am really curious to see if the meat comes back salmonella.

I hope the switch back helps also Lisa. My vet thinks it sounds like a good idea as well...just from looking at Allie's ss.

But I did just get off the consultation line at Cornell after trying 150 times to get through. I gave all of Alex's basic info and now I have to wait for them to call me back to see if I can get any definitive answers based on all of the meds that Alex is on. I have all of the bottles lined up in a row...I hope they call me back before I need them :)

Sending feel better vines to Do Lou...
