Ugh, what a week it's been! Was supposed to go into work today to get caught up on stuff when I was out sick earlier. But now John, one of Alice's "brothers" that I also adopted, is sick.

All started Thursday night when he wouldn't eat. Friday morning he was hiding and didn't come out to eat, but he ate a little at lunchtime. Didn't eat at all last night. He's been drinking water and using the litter box fine, or so it seems to me. Isn't crying like he's in pain, but he's lethargic and last night was even wobbly on his feet like he was dizzy. He spent most of the evening sleeping/hiding in a dark cool corner of the pantry.

This morning, he was out from hiding and willingly had a couple little bites of food. But he's still lethargic and just not his usual self. The good vet is 45 minutes away so I'm going to throw some clothes on and try to get there and back and still go in to work this afternoon. And I'm still not 100%. All this crud from my ears and sinus feels like it's trying to settle in my throat now. Plus DH is out of town until Labor Day so kitties and I are on our own!

Hope everyone else is having a better week! :dizcat

On the positive side, Alice is still doing well. Great, in fact. And my dry food addict cat Molly has started eating more wet food. She only likes Fancy Feast so far and she still wants some dry on the side (a lot on the side), but I'm finally starting to make some progress with her.

Well, very bad news for John.

Sweet, fluffy John has advanced kidney disease. His numbers are so high, they are literally off the chart. He'll stay at the vet's over the weekend and they'll try to get his numbers down. They were going to run an IV, but on my home, the vet called and said John became so agitated and stressed as they were trying to get the IV going, that he nearly passed out. He's weak already from not eating much since Thursday morning. They're going to let him calm down and just do fluids under the skin (I know there's a word for that) without the IV. Not good for his prognosis, though. They'll test again on Monday.

Best case scenario, he has 1, maybe 2 more years. But the vet was not optimistic at all and gave me no reason to be either.

Poor John. He's such a sweet boy.

So sorry that John is feeling so bad. I hope the vet can help him get better and home with you soon.
