Good Morning LL!!
(Ahhhhhh.... elixir! Thanks Elsa), and Happy Catmint Caturday!
LL! It's is I, Elsa, KBP, president and CEO of Coffee Cat! Life is GOOD! GUESS WHAT! Paw Prints Pizza is open and ready for business! They are running a Caturday Catnip special today, in honor of Catmint Caturday - lots of nip in those pies! They have even used their signature nip cheese.
It continues to be warm for us PNW kitties, and Bug and Lola say they are turning off the pizza ovens early, cuz well it gets mega hot in there in the afternoons.... so best order early! So stop by Mannie's treehouse and get some pies! so. well. anyways.
Coffee time! For today, I proudly offer Elsa's special 10 hour energy coffee, and Double shot espressos, with beans from deep within the mountain slopes of Africa, AND.... for all my Mocha fans: a venti quad peppermint white chocolate mocha, with peppermint infused whip, garnished with peppermint candy chips and white chocolate shavings... It is my bean's fav! SWEET! OH! No worries, a dollop of peppermint and vanilla and chocolate and caramel swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, sprinkled with peppermint chips and a chocolate caramel drizzle.... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... mega good!
I hope everyone had a great day yesterday, and a great week. The days with the boys have been good ones! We have been very busy, that part of life has not changed. Will it ever? ;-) What a BUSY week! Truth be told, I prefer it that way.
We have been swimming, and hiking, and to playgrounds, and Aquariums. We have had lunches on the mountain lakes, car camping some too, and on grassy laws picnic style. These days are wonderful ones. Life is good!
Wednesday and Friday, were our swimming days this week. Due to some conflicts I was unable to find anyone to watch William on Friday, so all all went together  It actually went rather well, but not something I want o do on a regular basis until William is older and can handle himself better in the water. We soon will be back to the big pool when fall scheduling starts, and that, for now, is an no no to have both boys in there at the same time. It was nice on Friday to see how well Nicholas worked and played with his brother. he was very patient with him, encouraged him to try things, helped him when he could. William now knows what teh word DUNK means as I took him underwater a few times. That he handle well, no crying, no fuss. NICE!
We had planned to have my MIL Connie watch William on Thursday, but Nicholas ended up going to the DR that morning, so we had to cancel. Bummer! We are getting closer to the end of summer pool scheduling, which I am so looking forward too. I believe Nicholas is too. Come September I will be able to spend much more time with William in the pool, when Nicholas enters a 2X/week pre-school type experience. When he goes to school, William goes to the pool. I am really looking forward to this, as it is more than apparent from a few previous visits, and times spend on the rivers, that William will love the water as much as Nicholas does. We will continue to swim on Friday night, just couldn't this week, as one pool was closed, the other still on summer schedule with no available time and the other is clsoed for one week for maintenance stuff. ShesssH! In that respect: bring on fall! We are still trying to "convince" Nicholas that swim lessons would be great, but he is adamant that he does not want t do them. silly boy! ALl in good time. In the meantime I teach him what I can, and marvel at how well he does on his own. GO NICK! GO WILLIAM!
Nicholas still looks forward to our after swim Friday Night Burger Feast too. That is just so fun: burgers and fries, just him and me, with lots of fun stories. last night Nicholas had a feast guest: William.
Since we did not have a pool we could go too, we went to the beach instead, stayed late ad had our burger feast there. William enjoyed it: ate some burger, loved his fries ans down the hatch wt his milkshake. Last night we again talked pool closures, as well as all our berry hunts, swimming in the rivers, and this weeks mountain visit He was really into that discussion, as we had spent the day swimming in and exploring some very cool lakes this week. He also talked alot about summer swim schedules and finally being able to swim again at his Friday night pool last week. he was sorry he couldn't go there this week. He was one very happy boy. We also talked endlessly about how his pools were closed. I heard alot of "What a BUMMER!" ;-) I had the boys late as mom and dad were at a Seahawks game. it sure was nice to stay at the beach into the early evening hours. That wodnerful drive home, with all his stories, was, this time, to grammie's hours, and not his home. Awesome time!
Nick's Pics continue!. He still voes the camera, takes them from time to time. last night he wanted to take a few of the interior of my car.   He had a DR's appt Thursday morning. He has a case of molluscum contagiosum, basically a viral wart thing, common with young children. it runs it's course for approximately 12/18 months, then disappears. He's into about month 12. Well somehow he managed to get a secondary infection in one of them, probably through scratching, and that darn thing swelled up, looked so sore, so off the to DR for him. He haddled the visit realy well, even all that poking and looking and lancing, etc. no tears until they went for a good sample to find the best AB. Poor kid! Anyways, he's on a 10 day regimen of AB's.    Try and get a nasty tasting concoction into a 3 year old that just doesn't understand that he needs to taken what is the foulest tasting stuff to come down the pike. Why on earth they can't make children's medicines taste better than they do.... It was my fate to get that "stuff" into him last night, and finally hit on the brainstorm of mixing it with Nutella. He loves that stuff, so, gave it a shot. He just new that he was getting a special treat, which I called Nutella Ice Cream, and down the hatch it went. YAHOO!
 9 more days to go. So, if you please, healing vines for Nicholas.
Normally Monday would have been my hiking day.... but not this week. i spent it at a car dealerships. It was my misfortune to be involved in an auto accident last Th (I'm fine!
) which left my auto totaled. A real bummer, as I liked that car. So Monday I spent at my DSIL dealership, where he works, looking at cars. I did buy, a Dodge Dart, 2014 model with only 1000 miles on it. it still even has that new car smell.
They consider it used, but for me, with such low mileage it is new. YaHOO! A new toy to play with... Got a great deal, since they considered me family, and kept giving me discount after discount. but awesome!
Tuesday was boring!!!.....  nothing happened on Tuesday.   It seems SO ODD to type that....   I did meet with my friend in Seattle for coffee, so all was not a total bore.
Wednesday, after swimming, we went to Juanita Beach. The weather was great, the afternoon was turning into a warm afternoon, like 80 (!!), so off we went! We did all of what he goes there for. Lots of play, and it was warm enough that he could swim in the water. He had such fun with that. I had also brought a pair of swim trunks for William, so he was able to really get in the water, and play as much as he wanted. He continues to love the very small waves, and had a blast. Nicholas was there to show him the ropes, and to introduce him to building beach lakes and rivers. Nicholas would start one, William would come in and mess it all up. WHAT FUN! WHAT A MESS he was after that.   They both were! William has really developed a fondness for it all, he just gets so excited when he sees the parks, the beaches, the rivers, He is so very much like his brother when he was that age. He just loved it. We also had a small picnic after our beach and park time. All around - really a terrific day. I bet both those boys slept well that night. AWESOME time at the beach.
Thursday was road trip day, after Nicholas's DR visit.. We had incredible weather in the forecast, and well, it just had to be an outdoor day. It was another 75 degree day, so outdoors was really a great choice. We went up to Gold Creek at Snoqualmie pass for the afternoon. It was so gorgeous up there. Nicholas was so excited to be there, couldn't wait to swim in the pond, play in the creek. It was cold though, and he knew when to some out, dry off, etc. it was fun to watch him analyze the creek, figure out the best way to get to where he wanted, by wading, and yet stay safe. he did well. William loved it too. He was one wet messy dirty little boy, having so much fun. it was great. it is nice to see he knows when to stop, always does just shy of the drop off point in the water. Listens too when I tell him far enough. kinda cool he does. We had a picnic lunch on the edge of the lake, with some awfully nice scenery as a backdrop. A great afternoon, and a nice way to take his mind off of his "owie"!!
Friday basically was a "free day" after the pool. We had all of the day and early evening, since the boys were with me until 9/10 PM. so.... stuff to do! After swimming we went for a walk at the Mesika Trail, by the Lynnwood Pool. We thought it would be fun to check on the berries there, see if more had come into fruit, do one more berry run at the pool trail . That was so fun. Nicholas found that hidden patch of wild raspberries last week, remembered where it was, so this week he once again climbed on in and ate them all, the remaining 2. ;-) We thought we had eaten them all last week, but found a few this week.
That was much to Nicholas's delight.
He did save half of one for his brother (  ), who was busy with the blackberries. It was fun. We ended up doing the whole trail, with alot of play time throughout of walk. After the trail, and a much needed nap we were back at Juanita Beach, to spend the late afternoon and early evening there. Nicholas can swim in that beach area, so he thought it would be a perfect solution to not having pool to go to. That proved to be true. He did swim some, met a boy his age and spent the rest of the time playing with him. William spent alot of his time trying to keep up with them. ;-)  and getting REALLY SANDY and dirty.... It was such a great way to spend a Friday night We made it home by 7:30/8, they both got baths in Grammie's kitchen sink. Well... truth be told, I rarely use that bathtub, prefer out shower area instead, and have used the tub for the laundry baskets (bathroom is small), and used towels, all hidden behind the shower curtain     . anyways.... they had a blast taking a bath in the kitchen sink.    They will talk about that for some time to come. Bed time stories followed, and off to bed, until m om and dad made it to pick them up. Loved it all.
I am sitting here this morning, just like last week, trying to think what to write about the kitties.... and just like last week, thinking alot too about Mannie, and all the adventures he planned to for all the LL kitties. I so miss those days, and the fun, and relief from all the FD and the stress that comes with it. In that vein, Elsa, Lola and Bug decided that maybe the kitties would like to come to a Caturday party in the treehouse. They have Mannie;s ziplines working, and fired up the outdoor fire pit/grill, and fresh baked Paw Prints Pizza. Amazing what Mannie had packed and built into that treehouse. Best show up kitities! Party On as Mannie would say.
The rest I wrote last week, but all of it continues to be true. More so on the things about Bug and Nicholas. "The kitties are doing well here, all three of them. The last three days that Nicholas has napped here, I have found Bug sleeping, or watching, just outside of Nichoals's door, on the threshold. To me, that was huge. Could it be that Bug may take over where Mannie left off? I always swore that Mannie and Nicholas were bonded, inseparable, perhaps his feline GA is making sure all will be well. I always felt that Mannie sent Bug to us. They are just so much alike. Lola continues to be Lola, wild crazy fun Lola. Still the ultimate escape artist. She loves the outdoors, it has been hard to keep her inside. She is back to uprooting plants. 3 so far this week (one the week of 8/17), all upturned, all with dirt everywhere. So so Lola! Elsa is doing well too. I really Do need to schedule her senior wellness exam, but keep putting it off. I am not too sure why, guess I don't want any bad news, though I really have no reason to suspect any. Her weight is down some, but she seems well otherwise. (as of 8/22, still haven't made her appt....  ) Elsa is still dong well, darn active for an almost 18 year old. She sleeps alot, but what the heck: part of being a cat. She continues to be a very good lap cat of late: nice! With the warm weather she has been out in the yard alot. Lola is SO JEALOUS!!, and lets me know it whenever she sees Big Sis out in the yard. It is interesting that Bug just doesn't seem to mind that all. He is more than content to be a house cat. Kitties are good, and All are sound asleep as I write this.... Stay good kitties!" Normalcy in MusketeerVille!

Have a great day everyone! Enjoy your Caturday. The shopping is done, laundry almost done, rest of the day is free!   I hope that later today I will be able to walk the trail here, to the shore. 0% chance of rains today, and temps remain in the mid 70's. it should still be a nice day to be out. Paws crossed!
