GA 8/21 Mikey Has His Wings

I'm not sure I can even write this post. Our beloved Mikey took a turn for the worst today and made it clear that it was time for him to join his friends at the bridge. It appears that along with DKA and pancreatitis, Mikey most likely had liver cancer. I can't elaborate now, as Don and I are beyond devastated.

I can never thank everyone on this board enough for all your help and support. From 2 am panics to crazy vet bills, you've seen us through so much. Mikey was a very happy guy, and thanks to you, we got almost two years with him after his diagnosis. Given how sensitive he was, I don't think he would've survived without you.
 
Mary and Don, I'm SO SO sorry it was Mikey's turn to cross....BIG HUGE LOOOOOOOOONG HUG and more and more. Thank you SO much for sharing him with us, he was such a special boy. Remember - he's not gone, you just have to hug him differently.

Soar high on your new angel wings sweet boy....landing softly back in Mama's and Papa's broken hearts....

More hugs, thoughts and prayers for comfort....

I am so so sorry. It looked like Mikey might beat the odds, but then to throw cancer in as well. How sad and unfair.

Mikey is now free of pain and joining so many wonderful friends that have crossed before him. May your special memories of good times give you strength to deal with this great sadness.

Dear Mary & Don,
We are so sorry that it was Mikey's time. He was a wonderful kitty and will be missed. We will look to the heavens tonight to catch a glimpse of him gliding to the Bridge on his new, golden wings, sushi knife in hand and ready to join the crew in the Two Cats' Bridge Kitchen. Chefs Stu and Mannie will be delighted to have a Sushi Chef! All of his GA pals will be there to welcome him.

We know how much you will miss your guy; we all will miss him. He was a brave kitty.

My heart is breaking along with yours. I was so hoping that Mikey had rallied and this was all behind you.

A few days after Gabby crossed, I came upon this quote: "Cats never completely leave you. They side step time, shrug off death - come at the call of memory their beauty undiminished, their touch as gentle, their love perpetual." I hope it gives you as much solace as it gave me.

(((Mary and Don))) our dear friends.......you know what is in our hearts and our deepest condolences and prayers are with you. I am here for you as you have been here for me these last 9 months. Mikey was not just special because of his L/L Land antics but because even from kittenhood, he stood out...he loved life and everyone in it. The world was his chair to sit on whatever part he wanted. He crossed knowing the amazing and profound love you have for him and always will have.

His best pal Maudie, his buddy Duncan, big brother Wally, and of course my Gracie....all the Kinross cats are waiting to guide him to the Bridge where they wait for us and the great joy of reuniting with us who love them the most.

I could hear you say my name, in your very gentle way.
You told me that it was all right, I didn’t have to stay.
I was getting very tired, and the pain was leaving too
I closed my eyes a second, and a field came into view.

I still could hear you talking, but you seemed quite far away
Though I longed to be beside you, I just couldn’t seem to stay
For one moment I was with you, and the next I’m running free
I turned my head and there were others, running next to me.

We ran together through the field, and birdies filled the sky.
We chased and played together, then I turned and wondered why?
Why were you not behind me? I wondered where you went.

He petted me and told me that I simply had to wait.
That before I ‘d time to miss you, you’d be coming through the gate.
He said that very loyal pets, were granted special space

It’s really such a lovely place, there’s no sickness and no pain.

My heart is so heavy with sorrow right now. Mikey was such a joyous, fun-loving kitty. We all loved to follow his antics and his sassy comments. He leaves such a hole here on the Board, almost as big as the hole in your hearts. :(

You have had such tremendous loss the past few years, and I wish there were something I could say to you to help soften this latest blow. Take solace in the fact that Mikey knew how loved he was, and that you have given him the most unselfish loving gift there is, even though it cost you dearly.

Remember, your L&L Land family is here for you, always. :bighug::bighug:

I never knew Mikey well, but I liked him. It's never time, no not ever, to lose loved ones. So down right sorry.

I'm heartbroken for you, Mary. I remember many of those nights early on when he was so unpredictable! He was blessed to have you and Don taking care of him. Not everyone would've done what you did for him.

A million hugs going your way. I know how deep the loss is and am holding you close in my heart.

{{{{Mary and Don}}}} I am so sorry it was Mikey's time to get his golden wings. :bighug::bighug::bighug: It was fate that brought him to the home that loved him and could care for him best. He was blessed to have a luthier bean who could draw those ridiculous small changes in doses. Many school children will be saddened to hear that Mikey will no longer be helping them with their schoolwork. He was truly one of a kind.

It's night time here, but the sky is bright with a new shining star as a new angel lights the sky.
 
I am so very sorry to hear this news. I know your heart is shattered. I truly hope that in time that eases some and that in time you are able to remember your Mikey with more smiles than tears. He will forever hold that particular space in your heart he laid claim to when you first found each other. I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like Mikey had a wonderful life with you and his furry siblings. He is running free now and playing with all of his GA friends.:bighug::bighug::bighug:
