Another lower and then high night for Harley. I am nervous about increasing in lantus, but I think it is because I am once more inching up to the 10 and 12 units I had to do with the NPH that was used. I did do the 6.75 this am but will not be home much to monitor him. He is afraid of the auto feeder since it opened up while he was by it and startled him.

Phew-tough kitty¬

I was scratching my head until I read yesterday's and your profile.

It is indeed possible for a cat to get used to a dose and effectively outgrow it (>bg's).
Harley may have some form of insulin resistance, hence the need for larger doses.

You could try freezing his food into puks.Put under fresh food, it the thaws but means he has fresh food later in the day as well. Also try him by the auto feeder again, helping him get used to the sound of it popping open.

Good luck, hope the odse does some good.

The frozen pucks are a good idea...you really need to leave something for him during the day. It will defrost and be available to him. Another thing...can you use the feeder to feed him without it being on a time...like leave food in there so he will get used to eating out of it? At first, they get spooked by the noise and later on, they will come running when they hear it...guess it's just a matter of conditioning.
Hope you have a happy Friday!

Good idea about the frozen food in the feeder. I could put one puck in an open slot and one in a closed slot. That way he will get use to the noise and associate it with food.

Re: 8/20 -- Harley PMPS 295

Well, another day is over and tests looked good. I was home more than I thought and got several tests.

+4.5 328
+6.5 271
+8.5 208 – gave freeze dried salmon here – maybe a tsp
+10.5 233
PMPS 295

Hopefully Harley will stay yellow but at +3 I expect pink. I have some EVO 95% chicken (1 carb) which I may give as evening snack at +3..maybe a tbsp. Also at +10 when he wakes me up.
Have a good evening.

I know you have said that the higher numbers are a response to Harley's not being use to lower numbers. As far as I know 208 was the lowest. Do I need to test every hour? His poor ears!

Will he ever quit bouncing around? Am I feeding him wrong? I am trying to cut down on food at meals but the crying is hard to resist. Tonight he got a little ocean fish (0 carbs on chart) and classic turkey (green label). It may have been a little less that a can. Right now, he is getting about 0.5 (or less) or raw cooked chicken

Is this bad????
