WCR well he as doing Ok before I went to work but got the report from DH he did not eat all his lunch and then that he had vomited a lot on carpet and all over bed :sad: :sad: so Mama Bean does not like to see him pukus I gave him a dose of pepcid and more then likely will tomorrow too and hope its just a one time thing since he will sometimes have a barf moment but still it makes me worry. All P's in place now that I am home he is purring and happy to see me and wanting dinner so hope he keeps it down.

Wanted to add that I got into a bit of a discussion once again with Do Lou's vet who has become much more supportive and of me and doing things my way but I had printed out some info on CSU for him since he has a dog with inoperable liver cancer just so he could read about it and we got started talked about acromeglay cats and that sort of thing and then this led me to talking about OTJ parties of which he went on to say NO cat ever stays off insulin the cat will always always go back on insulin well I sure wish I new the the numbers of cats that went OTJ that have not gone back on just to say LOOK here to him( I know some cats go back on but I am sure there are many who do not) he can be just so aggravating sometimes grr_red just when we start to get along better about FD boom we hit a road block and I sure was not going to argue I knew it was pointless

It is worrisome when they get sick like that. Paws crossed that it was just the one time....
 
I hope the Pepcid does the trick for Do Lou! At least you are making some small headway with your vet...baby steps...ease them into the idea.
 
Heart will stay off of insulin, so you can then tell you vet all about it ;)

Anyway, are you thinking of increasing the dose again a little?
 
It would be interesting to know who in FDMB has been in remission the longest. Vet sure is a sour puss.
Anxious to see the next cycle, wish he'd show some blue.

Yes D what really annoys me is I just love this man to death we have been friends for years BUT BIG But is that he is very set in his opinions and ways and its soooooooo hard to change him anyway it just bugged me how assured he was that NO cat ever stayed off insulin that had been on it before

Ok on to Do Lou yes I wish he would show blue too D I was hoping yesterday when we got that 227 and then he went the other way
 
If this vet's patients go into remission but then stay overweight or eat dry food (be it low carb or not) like some vet-pushed Purina DM dry, then I could see them all going back on insulin ;)
 
I hope Do Lou is feeling better, poor guy!

It seems that sometimes vets just have older info, or maybe FD just isn't his specialty.
 
Yes my vets have very old fashioned views about FD and yes they think dry is fine they push DM on all patients and sometimes w/d which is what Do Lou was on for years not for FD but just for weight LOL its what he got fat on eating a high carb trying to loose weight diet
 
I generally figure that the best way to be proven wrong is to talk in absolutes (e.g., "...NO cat ever stays off insulin the cat will always always go back on insulin). (The italics are mine.) How long does a cat need to stay off insulin? Until the cat is GA? That could be one month, a year, 5 years, etc. The problem is that there's no way to survey effectively. As I'm sure you see here, many people who were very active when their cats were on insulin, drift away once they are OTJ.

Silly vet. His statement is like saying no cat is ever healthy. They always get sick!
