We are all stressed over here today, though I feel better thanks to the support and answers to my questions. Ozy has been hiding out in one of his hide out spots (a cardboard box in the closet). He doesn't hide very often, not even around toddlers.

All three cats took a turn in my lap this morning. I think they were comforting me. Amazing little creatures.

Got a ketone test and it is negative.

AM+3 He is napping in my lap and I am dozing too. I chose not to disturb him for a blood test and instead to enjoy the cuddles. Tested at 3.5 after he got up.

AM+5 Sleeping a lot today. He looks comfortable and is alert when I wake him.

AM+6 Very affectionate after blood test. Hanging out with us in his favorite public chair. His back legs are wobbly when he walks today (high numbers seem to coincide with that); however he is no longer walking in that painful stiff legged gait with his back arched like he was walking yesterday.

AM+6 - sleeping but alert and very affectionate when woken.... there is that ugly red 420 again.... I like the color red but I don't like red numbers.

AM+8 -couldn't find Ozy. Finally found him asleep in the rocker upstairs. He used to spend time a lot of time in that chair. He hasn't been upstairs much in quite some time. I think his legs wouldn't allow it. His number may be high but I take his trip upstairs as a good sign.

AM+10 His breathing became labored. Probably pain? He didn't eat much and he is inactive. Gave him bupe. Much better at AM+11.

PMPS- hungry and eating well. Alert, social. Boy that bupe can really help.

PMPS+1 Playing with his mouse, hanging out with us in the kitchen. Warms my heart.

Ozy may very well be picking up on your stress and just taking himself out of the picture by finding a most excellent box to curl up and "hide" in :-D

Good going on the Ketone test!!

Just one more bit of "Housekeeping" information....Each day, when you do your post (they're called condo's), put the link to the one before in your post. That way it's easy for members to see what other questions you've had lately, as well as the advice you've been given.

Here's your condo that was started on 8/1 for today Yesterday's condo for Ozy

It doesn't have to be fancy either...you can just copy/paste the link to the previous condo :-D

Edited to add...now that I've had more time, I can see that you've been linking your condos....just missed this one. We all do it! Good we have the option to "edit"

I'm going to post here since I don't see your condo for this morning (Saturday) yet.

That's excellent news on the ketone test. Ozy will start to feel better as you continue to help bring those #s down. In the beginning, they're typically lethargic, and very ravenous. It's normal, so don't be alarmed. It simply takes time for the #s to settle down as you go up in doses.

Ozy's actions are a good sign that he's starting to feel better, and is seeking out his favorite rest spots. I'm glad that he's also giving you some lap time. Cats can feel stress from us. I know this is a stressful situation for you, however, over time it'll become part of your daily routine, and things will start to fall into place. Then, you'll be doing what we all do... Trial and error with food amounts, and weight (I'm doing that right now), and seeing what will help to bring his #s down, and what brings it up, etc. You'll both get there. It's a slow process, hence the need for Patience Pants. You're doing an awesome job with his care. Keep it up! :YMHUG:
