Today's +2 has me spooked... he never gets pinks during a cycle unless he's had a fur shot, which I'm almost certain didn't happen this morning. And he's now laying down next to the water bowl, which absolutely can't be good.

I'm working from home today, I'm so lucky I have that option. I'm not sure it's wise to wait until Friday to redo his labs. I feel so torn.

I’m glad you’re home with him today so you don’t have to be away and worrying even more. I’m praying for Binxy and I hope you get some answers soon and a path to get him feeling better. I’m so sorry you guys are going through this🫂❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹
 
Hey Briana, glad Binx is safe with you cuddled in your lap 💜 I do believe 288 & 338 are within the 20% variance range so could be considered the same number. Khloe did something similar yesterday and it spooked me too but she did eventually start to come down later. Hope you & Binx have a nice, safe, and uneventful day together 🫂

Yeah for blues! What is adult RSS you have listed in your spreadsheet? Some higher carb food perhaps that influenced his +2? Or he dropped lower than 85 last night?

A tip on fluids, sometimes it can lower the BGs. I used to give fluids in the afternoon, after nadir, when Neko's numbers were already on the rise. I see you gave them last night after the shot.

Oh! I didn't realize fluids could lower BG. It may very well be that he dipped too low last night then, because normally he comes up around +5/+6, or perhaps he had a bigger dip earlier and the +5 was him starting to come up. Good to know for future fluid times, thank you!

This is the Adult RSS food, also a Rayne product, which we switched to the Rabbit when he had tummy issues... but the Adult RSS has lower carbs and lower phosphorus, so I'm switching to exclusively that. It's not my favourite, as pork isn't as novel (but seems to be fine) and also it's this awful soupy consistency with large "animal part" chunks (vs the rabbit that was more pate).

Not all cats are impacted by fluids, but it can. I did see it happen in Neko.
 
So glad Binx came down to see some blues today.
I don’t really know fluids lower BG either.
Always learning here.

Thanks for the reminder, it was very outdated! Updated now.

The actual carb and phos levels are where I get a little confused, because the website provides a bunch of numbers but all the food charts I've seen are on an as-fed basis, so I used the calc for my understanding/comparison (based on box guaranteed analysis).

When doing that:

Rayne Adult RSS (Chunky Stew):
6.5% carbs (as-fed)
Website lists three other values (wowza): % as-is (3.75%), % dry matter (16.7%) and % of metabolizable energy (15.3%)
For phos, I don't know the calculation we see in the charts but the website says: % as-is (0.18%), % dry matter (0.79%)

And just in case, for Rayne Rabbit (Chunky Stew):
9.5% carbs (as-fed)
Website: % as-is (6.4%), % dry matter (27.4%) and % of metabolizable energy (22.1%)
Phos from website: % as-is (0.26%), % dry matter (1.1%)

I'm guessing maybe the as-is is the same as as-fed? And their carb calcs note for as-is and dry matter, that's Carb Nitrogren-Free Extract
