I wanted to give her an extra day to see if this was a fluke, but...it looks like she is going back on the insulin. DH is going to pick up a new cartridge at the pharmacy right now, but I'm not sure what dose to give her. Any ideas? Her last dose was 1 drop, but I have a feeling that won't do much to her yellow and pink numbers. Do I start her back at 1 unit?

I am sorry to see you again...you know what I mean...sigh...little Magnolia is asking for some juice, huh?
Well, that happens. doesn't it. Good for you that you have been watching her...and good for her that she will get back to feeling good again....How is she feeling otherwise?
When was her last dental? You don't see evidence of any infections that is possibly going on, do you?
I see you were on .25u according to your SS right before going OTJ, right?
I hope someone will be along shortly to help you with the starting dose for Magnolia...I just wanted to say hello and hope tht you will make short work of it now....and get back to the Falls as quickly as you can...Hugs to you both!! :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Yes I know what you mean Pat. Thanks. She had dental done last spring , I don't see any infections...everything seems ok, but she is acting quite needy, running in between our feet when we walk, meowing a lot. Litterbox action has been a-ok. Appetite, preening, playing, all purrfect. The .25 dose was more like 1 drop so we just stopped.

sorry to see you back, hopefully it will be a short visit.

Are you around to monitor? I would probably try 0.5 unit to start, but then be prepared to increase quickly if it's not enough. And schedule a vet visit when you can, to see if there is a reason for the increase in numbers.

I'm around and I have strips. I'll give her .5 now and monitor every few hours. And schedule a vet visit too. Thanks Libby!

Shadow had a dental in early March/late Feb I forget which...and needed another this month. I have now heard of other kitties who go twice a year for dentals so now I don't rule that out anymore. An inflammation can cause higher bgs so that's why a check-up at the vets is a good place to start. Best to see if anything is going with her and rule that out right away. It might all turn out that she is just fine but just needs a little more time on insulin...but if you can, have her checked to be sure.
 
I spent the day calling around looking for a new vet. Magnolia HATES our current vet, sadly. I adore her. I think I found someone, waiting to hear back tomorrow I hope. Her dental was done last March, I hope she doesn't have to have another one, I don't think I can afford it!

I know it may take a while for her shed to fill...any thoughts on if I should hold the .5 or increase her PM dose tonight? To .75 or 1?
 
the shed has gotta fill... that's my opinion... keep the same dose as Libby suggested unless she (or others) post otherwise.
