8/15 Rufus PMPS? Forget it, sister! +3 243!

Yesterday's Condo

'Mornin'. Rufus is a CRANKY bouncy ball this morning. Had to fight to get the shot in, and he's not feeling particularly inclined toward eating. (Big surprise after all the HC we stuffed in him last night/this morning). We'll check him at... I don't know when, to be honest. I'll be sure to get a midday glimpse at the least.

WCR:... I don't have much to add this early in the morning. He's not happy with me, clearly. It's funny - I'm so tired I'm actually contemplating taking it personally, lol.

WHR: After falling asleep somewhere around 3am and waking up at 6... human not feeling so hot. Need to get a nap in. Can't very well poke and test with shaking hands. :YMSIGH:

you did great last nite - and even less juice too as per Libby ;-)

Liking the yellow AMPS.
Make sure he has plenty to eat this morning, as for when to check?
+1 or +2, set your alarm if you want, but as long as there's plenty of food on board for the first couple hours he should be ok.

:) I certainly wouldn't have done well at all without help! I can't believe he was doing this sort of thing all along and never gave any overt signs of it. Hopefully this dose can stick for a while.

I'll try for a +2. If I like that number: nap time. (I know better than to try to take a nap in under two hours! lol) Rufus can crank all he wants, he's just a big baby.

+2 289. Itty bitty hike. I can tell just by this reading that we're not going to have a good testing day. I'm going to have to get by with as few readings as I can. (I think the Bonito sprinkles need to make way for something more substantial. He was giving me a pretty evil glare when I tried to "entice" him with them.)

Bee, I missed the excitement last night.....you did a great job! Congrats on the decrease, I hope he holds it well! Naps are good. (I hope Libby gets a nap too! So nice of you to stay up and help Bee! :smile: )

+6.5 293. Normal after so much HC? I wish I could have gotten more readings from him, but he's been in hiding all day, and not feeling very cooperative. It's almost like he can withhold blood by will, I swear. After last night, I don't blame him!

I'm thinking I'm going to try to get +8.5, +11, +12. I can't even imagine what his level will be at PMPS, but I can hang in there. I just want to make sure his levels go down enough so that he has a good cruise until AMPS tomorrow. Might feeding him a LC snack nowish and maybe around bedtime help him, or throw him off since it's not what he's used to?

(And, talk about it! I hope Libby got a nap and then some! I will repeat myself ad nauseum: I am unbelievably grateful for the help Rufus and I received last night. I'd probably have been at the emergency vet if I hadn't had hand-holding. nailbite_smile)

You're welcome, I have lots of experience with low numbers with Lucy, and there was always somebody to stay up with me. She loved going low late at night, everyone called it The Lucy Show. Just returning the favor, and one day you will too.

Wow... steady she goes. This is the least fluctuation in his numbers I've been able to see for myself. I'd like to stay in the yellow if we could, but I'm going to guess he could be a pretty pink princess by +11. :lol:

Wow. Couldn't get a PMPS from Rufus - couldn't shoot him, either, but Mom was able to hold him still. I know it's not wise to do that, but I got a +11.6 of 296, so I just did it. I am REALLY on his litter box list after last night. He lets me pet him, even let me test throughout the day, but tonight he's feeling crankier than usual. He wanted his food and he wanted it RIGHT then. I really don't blame him. I'll work hard for a +3 before I can head off to bed.

WCR: The differences in his attitude from yesterday to today are like day and night. Yesterday he was being his silly, playful, precious kitten self, and today he's just blaaaaah. He spent most of the day alternating between hiding in his preference of closets and sitting on his bum in his favorite chair. He watched out the window for a little while, but he became upset when he saw someone walking their dog and stepped down form the window seat. :-|

I don't want to repeat last night's adventure - but I'd love to see that behavior again! Come back, Rufus. :sad:

No such naughty BG, though. At +3, we have a 243, and he was much happier to sit on his mom's lap for a few minutes of cuddling beforehand. We got blood in one poke (helps a LOT!) and it was over in seconds. He didn't dig into my legs with his claws when he was jumping down (a sure sign he's unhappy) and he accepted his nernie (bonito flakes still) with all the grace of a hippo.

I'm going to have to adjust my PMPS testing in the future to several minutes before meal time. Not a super significant measurement, but enough so that he's not raging while I try to get him to hold still of his own volition.

A good way to ease into sleep, I say. Hopefully he'll have a smooth ride through the night and I can wake up in the morning to a shiny, happy low yellow/high blue so I can shoot without biting holes in my lip! :-D
