WCR: did not eat all of her food in the autofeeder last night which was unusual for her, but we did load her up with a lot of MC before we went to bed. That probably had something to do with it. Her numbers last night were good, under 50 for the first time, but then this morning she sky rocketed back to pink. Is there something we can do to level her back out?

Yes, it is always nice to have an extra person helping in the middle of the night. Unfortunately for us, while mocha is really good about being tested during the day, she wants nothing to do with it at night. I have tried doing it on my own and setting her on the edge of the tub but she backs up and doesn't let me get a grip on her long enough to poke. Every once in awhile I do manage to test on my own and every once in awhile peter tends to test on his own but for the most part it is both of us getting up.

Good morning Devon,

Boy that sounds so familiar. Been there, done that, fighting with the cat, taking turns, lol

Hopefully Mocha will make her way soon.

Re: 8/15 mocha amps 343

I guess Mocha wanted to see what I did with the Pink floor...just painted it the other day and tried to make it more uninviting to Shadow. It's not very restful up there so I am sure she won't linger. She had another beautiful night last night!

Trying to picture you testing her on the side of the tub...you're a better man than I am Gunga Din...I bet I would fall in the first time I tried something like that! Mental picture I am getting of myself is not pretty!
I use a nice big table...no one gets hurt that way! (ME)

Re: 8/15 mocha amps 343

@ Pat. I was picturing me also, trying to perch on the edge of the tub. Cat and I would both be in it, feet kicking in the air.
I too, use a table. It used to be mine for jigsaw puzzles, until cats took over. Checkers hops up willingly, and I lean over him, sort of on top of him, to poke. He just wants me to hurry up, so he can have his treat.
Devon, I hope Mocha comes down and gives you some nice numbers today. I hate that darn pink floor.

Re: 8/15 mocha amps 343

Mocha! Silly! Come on down from the pink floor!

I hover over Savannah when I test, I too test her on a table or a flat surface. Savannah's kind of a lump though, I can plop her down somewhere and make her sit for a bit if I need to. My husband doesn't do any testing, which kinda stinks, he's a little afraid of the whole blood thing. He will give her the shots though.

Hope you get some dosing advice soon!

Re: 8/15 mocha amps 343

uh Mocha - down from the pink floor - your condo is on the green one. :-D

I can't imagine the tub - kudos to you! Mannie and I are on the floor, he sits on my lap. It's become "our spot" - testing time becomes cuddle time. kinda nice in a way. Interesting that mocha does not like testing at night. wow. I cam grateful that Mannie doesn't seem to care...

Have a great day - and I hope that Mocha returns to the land of the greens soon.

Mocha will be back down. Her pancreas just needed a breather.

I'm very lucky that it only takes one set of hands to test Gabby. It's rare that she is impatient or difficult for me to test. (On the other hand, when my pet sitter has tried, she can't get beyond the warning growl. What a momma's girl!)

Re: 8/15 mocha amps 343

Sorry but I had a bit of a giggle at your expense trying to picture you and Mocha and the tub. Silly kitty.
Hope Mocha comes out of these high numbers and back to greens and blues

Re: 8/15 mocha amps 343

Oh my gosh, I'm with Pat and Barb on the tub thing, I would be in the tub and Tinkles would be laughing at me!

Come on down off the pink floor Mocha! Green is so much more your style!

Re: 8/15 mocha amps 343

The tub? Might there be photographic documentation?

I learned fairly quickly that I had to test Punk on the floor so that when she started to back up, I was already behind her. I also learned, quite by accident that my freaky lil cat cannot resist the beeps of my phone when I play with the different ring tones, she goes to it like a ....like a.....like a kitty to HC gravy.

Not much you can do about a bounce other than wait it out, used to take Punk 3 days to clear hers.
BOINGY BOINGY!

I wish there was a better spot for us to test mocha in the bathroom but our vanity does not have enough room around the sink for her to sit on .. and well, to be honest if I got down on the floor at 2 a.m. I can pretty much guarantee I am just going to roll over and go to sleep! So at night when we test I hold mocha and peter tests .. during the day it only takes one of us to test her, but it has, and I am afraid always will take both of us to give her the shot ...

Re: 8/15 mocha amps 343 +4 224

Wow, I guess I'm fortunate I can handle Emma by myself. If she were younger I don't know if she'd allow me to do it, but she's very patient with me for the most part. I test her on the couch, with her wedged between my legs, holding her there with my knees. I think she likes that "tucked in" kinda feeling. She usually starts purring. If the dogs are outside, I'll feed her there on the couch and give her shot while she's eating. Otherwise I put her food down in her spot and stick her then.

Re: 8/15 mocha amps 343 +4 224

I'm with Kristen, that's just the way we test and shoot Tess. Definitely feed while shooting, it made a big difference w/ Tess.

In the winter when she sleeps w/ us for warmth, I'd just sit up in bed, turn on the light, put her between my legs test and roll over and go back to sleep. I don't think she had time to realize what was happening.

If she is really bad you could try wrapping her in a towel, put that might just make her hate it more.

Re: 8/15 mocha pmps 165

Well I'm glad she is back down to blue .. hopefully she will learn to make gradual descent's not the huge drops she has been doing ...

When mocha was first diagnosed, we were frustrated to the point of tears at shot times ... Sarah (sarah & velcro) came over to help us out in the beginning ... mocha showed her what she thought of that! It has never ever been easy to shoot mocha .. I would say we spend about 15 minutes per shot just trying to catch her .. Oh she knows ... I can pick her up 100 times a day, but that one time before shot time, she growls and hisses and bats her paws around, she runs under the table and through the house, between our legs, over the couch .. :YMSIGH: At least we get in some daily exercise! And forget shooting while feeding .. she fell for that one time .. just like treats .. just once and she learned .. she's so blasted smart!

Re: 8/15 mocha pmps 165

looks like Mocha is a fan of running low at night, just like another meezer I know and love. Jojo would say "just one more test" but I knew she was lying, it was always at least 2 or 3 more tests after that. I can't get back up once I go to bed, so I learned to nap on the couch with an alarm set. If I tried to do the same thing in the bed instead of on the couch, I wouldn't wake back up.

oh trust me libby, we have slept through our share of alarms as well ... now the alarm clock is on the opposite side of the room beeping and beeping until one of us wakes up enough to turn it off and then get's the other one up!
