She ate nearly 2 Tbsp Wellness breakfast. I mixed it with about 2 - 3 Tbsp water by the time all was said and done, so her tummy should feel pretty full. She also ate 1 Tbsp Wellness for a snack at +9. I'm pretty pleased with myself for finally remembering that the "meal" she eats best is her 3 am snack - so I put her most important supplement into that one and she ate it all gone. Gee, how long did it take me to figure that one out?

She's really congested. I don't think she's going to be able to make any long car trips today :( We went for a late ride in the car last night - I can hear every breath she takes because her little nose is just congested all the time now. It doesn't drip any more, but I'm not sure if the snuffle sound is better. When she's really relaxed, you don't hear her breathing - just when she's up and moving around. I could hear her snuffle in the car the entire ride. And then, toward the end, she came up to the front seat and walked onto my lap. Now, a long time ago I impressed on her that she shouldn't do that when I'm driving, but she isn't a lap cat and she never sits on my lap and it was so cute... so I let her settle onto my lap and we drove the rest of the way home like that. At least I could put a hand on her and support her while I was starting/stopping/making turns. Of course, when we got home from our 20 min or so drive, she was ravenous for a little while. I have to remember that when we take drives and she's a little nervous, she gets hungry when we get home. Our little non-medical appetite stimulant.

I'm going btb for a little while. I'll see how she's doing when I get up.

car drives to wet the appetite, who knew. But my civvie eats when he's nervous too.
Enjoy your btb, I think I'm going to head back to mine before tackling some cleaning.

Re: 8/14 Kasha AMPS 115

I used to be able to leave Emma loose in the car when she was younger. It was so cute - she would sit in the front seat, and put her little paws up on the door and look out the window, and my dog would be in the backseat looking out the window right behind her. We got a lot of looks in traffic  Then one day Emma walked over to me, stood in my lap, and peed all over me while I was driving. And unfortunately we still had another hour or so to go. It was so unpleasant. We tried leaving her out one more time, and she peed again, so she's been back in her carrier ever since.

I hope she's feeling better soon. Maybe it takes a while for the meds to kick in?

morning Kyrs
just to let you know, wheezer is always congested and he does fine. that is where he got his name from cause wherever he is, I can hear him breath. when little he would hide and I could always find him. some days he is better than others and some days I want to lock him in a closet he snorts so loud. sooooooooooooooooooo................................
I never let that interfere with my travels. we threw him in the car last night and spent 4 hours with deb and dyana. she is so looking forward to meeting you and will really be sad and hurt if you are a no show.(she told me and deb this last night) we all are looking forward to meeting you. I really and truly believe kasha will be just fine. wheezer has gotten used to (as all my cats) riding in a car. I do not let them tell me where I can go. took them on a 9 hour drive and had a few cries here and there and eventually they lay down and go to sleep. a cover over carrier works well also.
besides, you need to do this for yourself too. please reconsider
here is a vid of how my boy sounds

Re: 8/14 Kasha AMPS 115

Geez Dian... I feel really bad as it is. I just don't feel I can put her thru the stress of a road trip right now. If she were younger or if these symptoms had been around and stable for a while, it would be different - but she's 18 and last night and today she sounds the worst she's ever sounded. Yes - like wheezer, but constant snorting and snuffling today. I just don't feel I can risk even the small chance that she'd be worse after this trip - I would never forgive myself.

I'm really sorry I'm not going to make it. I really did want to - I have food in my fridge to bring, I dug out Kasha's baby tent and was all prepared for the trip - but she just sounded so much worse today I would only stress more. I just picked up some decongestant nose drops from the vet to try on her cuz the breathing is obviously making her uncomfortable.

I just have to do what I feel is best for my girl. I do hope there will be some opportunity in the future to meet you all in person.

no problem Krys. was just trying to show what wheezer was like and if it compared to your baby. did not mean to make you feel bad. there will be a next time. hope you and Kasha feel better

Well, she ate an unbelievable amount (for Kasha) today. By dinner time she either eaten nearly an entire can of Wellness or more than one (I can't remember if I opened this can for last night's +9 snack or for breakfast). Plus additional grazing on FF.

Called the vet about her congestion - she's more congested than I've ever heard her. Sounded awful most of the day. Got some antibiotic drops (Gentocin) for her nose. They are actually eye drops, but our instructions are to put them in her nose. For her first dose, I actually did both - nose and eyes, because I just want them to get to those sinuses.

We're kind of moping because we're missing the reunion in Pittsburgh, but it was nice talking to Dyana, Dian and Deb. Hope everyone had a wonderful time!

I hope Kasha will feel better soon.

It looks like she could use a drop added to her dose, to see if those preshots will come down just a little bit. It's up to you, she's fine where she is and I don't know how aggressive you want to be.

eta: if you're not sure about her eating then I wouldn't increase, because that might require a little extra feeding of the cycle to keep her from dropping.

I think unless she starts to go higher, I'm going to sit tight just for now until I can be sure she'll eat on her own when I'm not around to monitor her or put food in front of her face. If she keeps eating well, I'll bump up her dose a tiny bit.
