Just as I was starting to feel optimistic about his numbers returning to a good range, Binx has taken a turn. I thought something was weird when he hit a pink mid-PM cycle last night, but thought maybe it was a bounce.

He threw up a lot in the middle of the night (almost exactly what happened last P-titis issue) and while he was still eating this morning, he’s now turning away from food (usually he’s ravenous). He fell trying to get up onto a higher elevation, which normally he has no issues with. He’s lethargic and not peeing/drinking as much as I’d expect, but I was mixing in water with his food when he would eat it. His poops remain firm.

So far I’ve given him 8mg of Cerenia (middle of the night) and a B12 shot this morning, 1 week ahead of the schedule.

Vet has no appointments today, but I’m going to call and see about tomorrow. I just have PTSD from last time when I went 3 times with the labs showing nothing.

Hope everyone is having a good day otherwise 🫂

That’s scary Briana! Will you take him in?
I’ve checked with my vet again but they also have no appointments tomorrow, so I’ve asked if I can just bring him in to do labs for now.

With how much overlapping stuff he has going on, it almost seems pointless to bring him to someone that doesn’t know his full/recent history. I’m really scarred from last time having 3 appointments with my clinic and an internist and ultimately having to ask for the right medication/tests myself.

I’m so sorry to hear Binx isn’t feeling well 🫂😥
I’m so glad you’re having him seen today.
You will feel better with him being looked at.

Is that 8 mg Cerenia evough of a dose? (Ivy is around 14-15 lbs and takes 12 or 16 mg).
What is his weight?

Maybe double check with the vet if the dose is appropriate.

Do you have all the meds needed if he’s got another flare (ondansetron, buprenorphine and evough Cerenia if needed?)
And anything else he may have needed last time.

Sending many prayers and vines to you and Binx. Keep us posted Vriana 💞💞💞💞💞🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃

Thanks, Staci 🫂🖤 I wish we could go one month without issue, but I guess that’s where he’s at in life.

Binx is about 10 lbs, he hasn’t gained any weight back after he lost 2 lbs during the diarrhea incident.

I have enough Cerenia but will ask the vet about the other ones you’ve mentioned! Especially in case he needs anything for appetite.

Update: physical exam was good. Getting labs done to see if they reveal anything else not observed. Otherwise going to continue to treat the symptoms.

Positive from this afternoon: his walk has steadied, he’s seeking out some light snacks and he approached the water fountain a couple times on his own. Hoping these are all positive indicators.

Hope the labs give you answers. Have you ever had a CardioPet ProBNP test done? With an acro, good to keep an eye on his heart status.
Especially in case he needs anything for appetite.
FYI, if you do get an appetite stimulant, go for Mirataz. Elura (capromorelin) is contraindicated for acros. It stimulates production of growth hormone - not what he needs!

Cabergoline discussion still on hold?

Thanks, Wendy 😊 Definitely doesn’t need any additional growth hormones 😅

I haven’t had one done for Binx, but I’m seeing this is a blood test? I’ll email the vet for info and pricing, worth knowing the option for next time we’re there.

And yes, still on hold 🙁 every time he’s starting to stabilize, he’s taken some turn. During the diarrhea incident we had the internist appointment booked to discuss it and then had to pivot the conversation. Hopefully these symptoms are short lived and we can get back to stable quickly (anti-jinx)

We just did this lab test last week and it was elevated. One of my vets said it’s possible it’s elevated due to the inflammation and the whole pancreatitis episode Ivy’s had going on for the past month.
We will keep an eye on this and recheck, we did it through Idexx, Antech doesn’t have the test.
