They did crown amputations on two teeth (front canine and a premolar) both of which apparently had cracks -- both of the upper canines wih exposed nerve and the other involved tooth was a back molar. The vet said that the molar and the canine with root exposure were probably causing her substantial pain.
ouch. exposed nerves, yup must've hurt. do you know how long they've been a problem? cali's root canal was on her upper canine, but she had only the teeniest pulp exposed.

Re: 8/10 Gabby AMBG~269, +11~340, PMPS~320 We're home

Glad to hear that Gabby is home now and your devoted and watchful eye.
Good boy Gizmo is!

I'm trying to Izzy as a kitten to getting her teeth brushed as recommended by
my vet. So far I have done it once.

Hope all of you have an easy night and Gabby feels better.
((more hugs))

Glad she is home! It sounds like all went well. I bet she will feel so much better now that the problem toothies are gone. My girls are finally home too - stoned out of their gourd, but they did well. Have a good night - with lots of hugs for your girl.

Awww, Sienne, Gabby's going to feel so good in a couple of days.
Checkers had 4 removed at one time and he was eating as usual the next day. That was at the beginning of this whole sugar dance, so he was still on dry, and he still wanted to eat.
Oh my goodness, she will be so happy. :-D

Re: 8/10 Gabby AMBG~269, +11~340, PMPS~320 We're home

Wow...would you have thought that she was in such pain before, Sienne? She will be so happy once her recovery things are over with and she doesn't have that pain any more. How great that you are both home and relaxing. The only good thing about dental days is when they are over with! Amazing to know that so many of our kitties have clean pearly whites now....
Tell Gabby that we think she is very brave and such a good girl....rest well tonight Gabby! :YMHUG:

Re: 8/10 Gabby AMBG~269, +11~340, PMPS~320 We're home

CF - she had a dental last October so this hasn't been overly long in the making.

Now, if I could just get her to want to eat!

Re: 8/10 Gabby AMBG~269, +11~340, PMPS~320 We're home

Poor Gabby, I hope she feels better soon. Nice that they can use a patch for pain meds! I'm sure she is glad to be home. I hope you both rest well tonight.

she'll be ok for the night. if she doesn't eat tomorrow, I'd call the vettybean.

As for the f patch. they are a BEEATCH to get off. I tried wetting it (using a warm wash cloth to soak onto the patch) for a few minutes) tried peeling it slowly, tried using a little lotion to help loosen it up. No go.

glad she's home. hope the numbers go down a bit (i hear the anaesthesia can nom nom nom on the numbers)

Re: 8/10 Gabby AMBG~269, +11~340, PMPS~320 We're home

Cyn (and others) -- the secret to patch removal is Avon Skin So Soft. My vet actually gives a small squeeze bottle of it for patch removal. One of the vet nurses also said that mineral oil or olive oil will also work.

And, Gabby's pissed at me.

I'm with Jackie, I think it's good to be high tonight so the nom-noms won't get her. I hope Gabby is eating something tonight...

Re: 8/10 Gabby AMBG~269, +11~340, PMPS~320 We're home

AH Gabby - don't be pissed at your bean. She loves you. -- I don't know what's worse, not wanting to eat, or not be able to figure out how to get the food in the mouth fast enough, or hold the bowl still. Mine is getting better but still a little out of it, hungry, and can't quite get the food in the mouth - it's smeared on her nose, in hew paws cuz she's trying to hold the bowl still. omg, and stoned. I hope Gabby comes around soon - I bet she will.

Re: 8/10 Gabby PMPS~320, +2~201, +3~100

I finally got Gabby to eat a little something. Given how she's dropping, gravy got her interest. She ate some Wellness + baby food + gravy (lots of gravy) + syrup. Frankly, I don't care if she's back in the pinks. The gravy got her interest and I really want to stop this drop. She doesn't want to be tested. She's a little cranky. And, the good news is she's acting less stoned and more alert. Up until a while ago, she was hanging out in spots where it was dark and quiet. At least she's hanging out with me for the time being.

Re: 8/10 Gabby PMPS~320, +2~201, +3~100

she's hanging out with you because you gave her gravy, but whatever works. ;-)

I guess the nom-noms got her after all.

Re: 8/10 Gabby PMPS~320, +2~201, +3~100

I honestly don't know if it's the nom noms or her not having much food in her system all day. She had a snack somewhere between 3 - 4 AM this morning, less than 1/2 a can of food after her procedure at the vet, and not a whole lot more this evening. If she's eaten 1/4 of a can of food it's a lot.
