Hi all,

3/29 - Pookey pics

Vet came by the house today for new labs. He had gabapentin but was still pretty worked up. It went well though and he scarfed a snack as soon as they left. The house calls are so nice, he hates the car much worse. We’ll get the results back next week.

Can’t believe I haven’t posted here since March! I’ve been putting some pics and stuff up on the FKMB here and there. Not a whole lot else to report. Just thinking of Yasmin and Pudge.

Woohoo Pokey pics! I totally missed this post. He's so cute it's hard to believe he's also spicy.
Hopefully the results you get back will be pawsitive. Keep us posted.
Happy Caturday Tim and Pookey

Thanks Karolina!! He’s just a scaredy cat with new people :blackeye: hope you’re getting a lot of time home with your boys!

I almost missed this too. Little Man! He's so precious!! I sure wish we had a vet that did home visits. Do you have to put Pookey in a crate before they come, to 'corral' him? Jude hides when people come over, so I have to block all the exits, so to speak.

Thanks Mary! Yea, same kind of idea. I lock him in my office and then go get positioned with the vets and techs in the bathroom. Then bring him in. They call when they’re exactly 10 minutes away so I can start my operation lol. And they let me be with him in there the whole time.

Got the labs back. Just a quick glance, the most notable change is his phosphorus has increased to 6.0. Everything else seems to be stable.

The veterinary documents and Tanya’s say this is when you need to intervene with binders. I asked the vet what she thought and she said she doesn’t start binders until they’re out of range. And by range it’s the range on the labs sheet that says “2.9 - 6.3”. I talked to her on the phone and it sounds like I’m on my own if I’m going to do a binder.

I ordered some aluminum hydroxide and lanthanum carbonate (Catney One) to see if he’ll tolerate them. I also ordered Porus One, I’ve been kicking the can down the road on it but I just need to do it. Otherwise, can’t do renal food because of FD. So the other option is I try to mix in some of those super low phos Weruva’s. But he barely likes regular Weruva.

The vet wants me to consider another dental cleaning as well. I might try to delay it honestly because he had a breathing issue last time he was under anesthesia. So much new information!!

I'm sorry the phos has increased!! Sounds like you have some complicated decisions to make, but I know you're on our FKMB as well as Tanya's, so I know you're getting some good input and hopefully will here as well. I wish I knew what to tell you about the dental. That's a tough one, and it would concern me too.

Pookey's so fortunate to have you caring so well for him! Sending ear scritches!

Thanks Mary. I’m thankful about the situation overall. Belly rubs and scritches going out right now!
