Appetite not that great this morning, but she did eat all her breakfast with chicken dust for encouragement. She ate 2 Tbsp Wellness Chicken. She also nibbled on some chopped grill FF. I wish she would eat her breakfast the way she eats her +9 snack - she gobbled up a couple spoonfuls of the Wellness chicken around +9.

Still some sneezes - she sneezed for the first time in bed just before she got up for the night. A heard a couple sneezes after she wandered away. This morning, I wiped her down with a warm washcloth again in case there are any allergens on her that might be contributing - like residue from the groomer, which is when she began sneezing much more. It could be just the lousy air quality - it's been so hot and humid, there are ozone advisories daily. That probably doesn't exactly help, even though she's inside with the air conditioning. And it's so muggy that even with the air on, you can still feel some humidity. Ugh. My sinuses were bothering me enough that I took a sudafed when I was up for her +9, and I rarely take any sort of meds if I can help it.

Kitties are looking adorable right now.

Well, I'm off to water the plants and go on to a day of fruitless meetings...

Re: 7/8 Kasha AMPS 151

Not a bad start at all for Kasha. Maybe she is just not a morning kitty so she prefers to gobble her food later in the day or I guess in the middle of the night at +9.
Have a good day.

Re: 7/8 Kasha AMPS 151, 118 @ +1.8

Unfortunately, she has apparently sneezed till her nose started to bleed. I found a spot of blood near her nose - this happened a year and a half ago too. Then she got antibiotics and I had to start using a humidifier (it was January and the heat was drying her out too much). I don't know if the antibiotics helped or not - but it cleared up that time... I'm off to work - I'm going to call the vet but I don't think we'll be able to get in to our vet till tomorrow at the earliest. And I have meetings at work in the afternoon tomorrow...

I'm sooo tired of vet visits..

Stomach in knots again.

Re: 7/8 Kasha AMPS 151

Well, the air conditioning is extremely drying. A lot of people don't realize that it sucks the moisture out of the air completely.
We need it one during the warm moths here in Florida constantly and I have a lot of trouble keeping my plants watered. That is what I can see, but what is going inside our bodies? Hmmmm.
Shadow had trouble eating this morning too....I hope that Kasha has a good day..and you too with all those meetings!
Happy Friday Eve!

Re: 7/8 Kasha AMPS 151

nice amps for Kasha. I hope the weather breaks soon and Kasha will stop her sneezing.

Re: 7/8 Kasha AMPS 151

I hope you can get Kasha in to your Vet and see what's going on with the sneezies. I know you're worried, so hope there's a spot the Vet can examine Kasha. Feel better Kasha.

More sneezes... I can't stand it. She has sneezing fits of 7 or 8 or more sneezes and they are not cute little sneezes, but big sneezes...

I have to call in the morning to try to get a same-day appt with my vet. She's in surgery in the morning, but has some appointments available during the day for same-day appointments. She wasn't in today.

Ate nearly 2 Tbsp FF dinner. I'm not sure how - it didn't look like she ate that much, but when I measured what was left, it looked like almost 2 Tbsp was gone...

I'm worried about her.

A friend emailed me today and told me that another friend of hers, that I know, lost 2 kitties over the weekend. They were older cats, indoor and they got fleas. The 2 died within days of each other and another had to be hospitalized. I don't know more, but I'm thinking maybe they were anemic and the fleas exacerbated the problem? I'm feeling very paranoid about the cats right now.

The stress is really getting to me.

(((Krys))) I hope the vet will have some good advice for you. The rub-down with the warm wash cloth is very creative!

How is the rest of the WCR? Is she lethargic, or does she have energy?

could Kasha need a dental? Apparently bad teeth or swollen gums can cause sneezing.
I hope its nothing serious, and I'm sure it isn't. Prob just allergies and this hot weather isn't helping.

She has a dental scheduled for August 3rd. I've thought of that, but not sure what we can do in the interim if it's her teeth.

She's been eating pretty well so far. She sleeps a lot, but I wouldn't call her lethargic. Fairly normal - maybe a little cranky (or is that me?).

Hey Krys, I hope that your vet can tell you what to do about the sneezing. It does sound like pollen or something in the air. Do you have central air conditioning? Perhaps the filters need to be changed. Ditto the filters for window units. Blood near Kasha's nose doesn't have to be caused by an infection: the irritation of the nasal passages from the sneezing could very easily cause a little bleeding (that happens to me in very dry conditions during the winter). In any event, it's good that you will have the vet check her out.
Just hang in there and keep a positive mindset. Kasha has great numbers, so she is feeling good despite the sneezing.

Hugs to you, Kasha and Blue (how's he doing?)

Ella & Stu

I have the central air on. The only other time this happened (she sneezed till her nose bled) was 1 1/2 yrs ago in January. They gave her antibiotics and told me to use a humidifier. I used the humidifier the rest of the winter and all this past winter and she didn't have a repeat, so I assumed the dryness had made things worse and the humidifier helped. My ex BF used to always get nosebleeds when the furnace came on for the winter.

It's been in the 90s here so the air has been running a lot and I'm sure that the dryness doesn't help, but she can go out on the front porch where it's hot and more humid.

I changed the filter on the furnace (air conditioning) a week or 2 ago. They are really good filters I order online because I'm sensitive to the air and dust and particles, etc. The filters work better when they get dirty, so maybe they are just not dirty enough yet!

Blue's doing well - no sneezes from him so far. He just hopped past me to go hang out near the cage (which has the door closed now and he's probably disappointed he can't get to the litterbox in there - he has to go all the way out to the porch (30 ft?) to us the LB!)

I have a set of pet steps that I got from a yard sale - they were in the attic for about 9 mos and I cleaned them with bleach and water (rinsed well) before I brought them into the living areas. I keep wondering if there's something on them that might be irritating Kasha. There just isn't really anything new or different in the house...

When you shower, lock Kasha in the bathroom with you. The steam from the shower (or bath) will help to hydrate her nasal passages if, in fact, it's the dry air that's affecting her. You actually don't have to lock her in with you. You can just put her in the bathroom and run the shower so it's steamy and leave her in there for 10 min. or so.

As for the filters, there's some sort of spray you can use that will make the filters a little "stickier" so more dust, etc. stick as the air passes through.
