AMPS-217 ~1.0u Lev (start 10th cycle)
Yesterday

Morning! ~O) Better numbers this past cycle and this morning. Shadow ate some breffis and had a brushing.
For the heck of it, I waved the syringe at him and said "Come on over here on the towel~~~you need your shot now".
He looked away and I thought how silly I was to ask a cat to do something! I am SO silly!!

BUT~~~he turned back to look at me, stood up and walked right over onto the towel and laid down!!! I wonder how much he really understands about what I am doing to him all the time. There are times like this that I think he knows somehow. Raja is definitely the smarter of the two...and she has done all their thinking for the past 13 years!! But he seems so WISE sometimes....when his numbers are high I think he almost seems disappointed too!

I have always LOVED them. For 13 years I have loved them and cared for them. I mean, as one does with cats! But now, after these 10 months of treatment there is a bond that has formed between the 3 of us. I can't explain it but you all know what I mean. I watch them differently now. I admire all that they ARE and how their trust is so deep and constant. I see them as total beings, noticing everything about them and appreciating so much MORE about them. I have learned so much from you all here....and my deeper understanding of my buddies has brought me to a much deeper level of loving them.
They are so wonderful...and so are all of YOU! :YMHUG:
Happy 7th of July!!!

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

What a great post. I think we all feel the same. I believe they realize the shots help. Glad Shadow had a better cycle. Continued surfing and success. Have a great COOL day.

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

Yes, great post, and you have a way of expressing your thoughts so nicely. It is amazing how they cooperate and understand when the time for testing approaches. I wish you, Shadow and Raja a nice day. Do you have collars and tags on them? Maggie doesn't wear one, as she's totally indoors, as I live in an apartment. When I'm gone for six days and have a petsitter, I was thinking I should put her collar and tag on, but I'm afraid she could catch it on something. It does have that safety latch where it breaks apart, but still... She does have a microchip.

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

Indeed! A great post! and right you are - the bonds are stronger, better.

Mannie will do the same thing - he can be anywhere and will come and assume the position when I call him. I really think that they know. funny huh. What i like even more is when he meows constantly, asking for a test as he is in his spot - and we get a phenomenal number - he wants to make sure I know how great it is...

And a nice start for Shadow today! Wish I could say that about Mannie. oh well - another day. Mannie is all set for the party today for Doodles, and all the stuff he and Stu have planned. He hopes Shadow will be there too.

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

always a great post here ... yes, these cats are very smart .. sometimes I think to smart for their own good! This is a nice low yellow number so you could see lots of blues and greens today .. let's see what shadow does!

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

what a lovely post. So true about the bond, its so much stronger now.
Hope Shadow gives you a great day

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

Pat you have the best posts I just cannot put my thoughts into words the way you do I certainly know what you mean about the bond  nice amps today a low yellow shows promise of some blue soon :-D Do Lou and I have had a bond since he was very young but FD has made it even stronger with the daily testing even though my vets still think I am mean wish they could see Do Lou purring while I test and then sitting up waiting for the treat :-D

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

So true Pat! Honestly, Socks was always my favorite of the two cats, he is more loveable (sometimes agressive) but he seemed to enjoy my company and have more personality. Spooky was just here, he wasn't affectionate or "people" oriented he was just a cat. After the getting sick (and I'm ashamed to say when I first made the vet appointment and was unsure if it was more serious than just DM, I was secretly thinking better him than Socks  ) but he is a different cat today, much more personality and although he isn't the total schmoozer that Socks is he seems to appreciate me more and I feel the same about him. His misfourtune has made him my favorite (don't tell Socks) ;-) Of course there where times I wanted to really shoot him (not just with insulin) when we were fighting about the dry food and he was destroying parts of the house in frustration...we are both more relaxed now.

Hope you guys have a good day, the sun is shining again and it's getting warmer by the minute, supposed to be another heatwave by the weekend. Tonight is the big game half-final Germany vs. Spain!!!! GO SCHLAND!

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

You do have the best posts Pat. I certainly understand the bond. Putty was always very attached to me but even more so since his dx.
Not a bad start for Shadow today.

I saw your daughter drive by on her way to the cape and I waved......she was driving a little fast though.

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

Pat - makes me a little teary thinking about what you said & how much we love these guys. We can move mountains! Lots of hugs from Susan & Lanky!

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

Pat, what a lovely post. I do know how you feel about that bond with your kitties. I think anytime you become a caregiver for your animals, you develop a deep bond that wouldn't ordinarily develop. And I think we all value that bond.

I hope you have a wonderful 7th of July too.

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

Pat-
Great post, and yep, we do know how you feel. I've always had the closest bond with Buzz (of my 3 kitties) but now it's even deeper, I think. They are little miracles on 4 legs, that's for sure. The part about Raja doing all of their thinking made me laugh. :-D

Shadow-
Hey, Mannie and I are going to Stu's early today so we can sit on his porches and drink niptinis while we keep him company. You should come too. I hope Blackie and Moonie will join us too. Just tell your bean that there is a lot of work to do in the kitchen, ok? See you soon!
<3, Buzz

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

Yeah, we all know cats don't come when you call, unless there's something in it for them
Yet I can't tell you how many times when PMPS approached that Donovan has dutifully appeared out of nowhere. He still does it, even OTJ *cough* since I still test him *cough* But I've cut way back - really

I agree, a different kind of bond is formed when you have a sugar cat. There's an unspoken trust, that you're in it together; and for OTJ kitties, that you *did* it together. I am thankful for that every single day.

Blue takes offense at the "miracles on 4 legs" comment! He says he's a miracle on 3 legs, and I'd have to agree!

Kasha has always been my baby... the boys were "just cats" - I loved them, but the bond wasn't quite the same. When Kasha was dx'd - I cried all weekend before we gave her first shot... I was devastated... Then the boys got sick too and I really felt how much I loved them too... After losing Big Cat and then with Blue having the amputation surgery, I really realized how very much I love him... Kasha is still my baby, but I truly realized I love that boy so much too.

Thanks for the wonderful post, Pat... You made me all emotional here at work!

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

Ah.. your post made me feel good. Now I (almost) can't wait to get home from vacation to see my kitties. :-D

Re: 7/7~Shadow~AMPS=217

Indeed, there is a special bond with our sugar kitties. Purring while being poked in the ear? Unbelievable that they will do that. They know it is for their own good. Thanks for the wonderful post.

Nice low yellow for AMPS, I hope he is surfing blue or green with the gang by now or soon.

Here is how Shadow's totally yellow-bellied day went:
AMPS=217
+3=216
+4=239
+8=249
PMPS=233 ~1.0u Lev (start 11th cycle)
He is lying on the bed here near me....has been close all day. For some stoooooopid reason, I have been playing Jewel Quest III again. What is WRONG with me???? :YMSIGH:

I don't think a day goes by when you don't mention poops (or lack thereof) on Shadow's SS!! I don't know about Shadow, but when Gabby has a flat yellow cycle, some excitement is in the works.
