im not sure where these yellows are coming from.. sigh. im terrified i hurt a tooth or something.. but hes eating ok (?).. did try some baby food.. had to syringe that too.

The food situation is horribly difficult and i really dont know what to do.. I do have turkey food frm another company; just use that? But w his sensitive stomach do it slowly? The last thing we need is stomach upset…. I’m juggling so much rn tho.. but will try it if necessary? He’s been eating ok w his regular food.. idk.. shrug. Im terrified of him going off it too… cuz of this…. but outside of baby food, there isnt much. They also discontinued his food anyway.. we got a number left but I been searching high and low for something else but he dont like them (tried two already..) Idk what we’re going to do.. Dependent on whats left for the future anyhow..

Pilling is a bit better; I’m trying to learn tips and tricks rn so I’m looking at things.. Tilting the head back helps. But he really doesnt like it.. the injectable Ondansetron feels like something to really try…bypass the gi tract altogether… (@squeem3 by chance started?? hows it going?....)

Peanut is alert and wants to move around but he is sooo fatigued and cant move or walk well.. Its gotten worse. Idk what we’re going to do w this either short term. I heard the Darbopoetin can take 4-6 weeks to see anything……… That really discouraged me..

Was told 2-3 weeks.. The Zenequin has about a week left on it..

So he cant really walk rn or hold himself up well. off balance.. since it could be more like 4-6 weeks….. i really dont know if we can hold out that long.. or whether its worth it. hes eating tho and is alert, etc.. .. hes so cute still.. this is really hard. idk.

UPDATE:

hes having a hard time taking pills now.. or taking meds in a syringe. he gags. im trying to do minimum.. but everything is important. i guess ill see how he does tonite.. tmw.. hes supposed to get a PCV to see how his blood is doing.. plus more stimulating agent.. but i dont anticipate much..

I gave the odansetron through the fluids. Is Pudge on fluids? If not, then 1 ml (assuming your cat's dose is 2 mg) is a lot and will take a bit longer than an insulin injection to give.

Oral ondansetron is twice the dose of the injectable. FYI, I've heard that the shot can sting, but not for all cats.

If he's having problems walking, any chance his potassium is lower now? Are you still giving the Renal K+?

Yes he sure is ~ howd it go?? Meant to call today but its been touch and go here.. idk. I got messed up w the fluids cause of his coughing but that resolved and then i wasnt sure what to give cause he felt squishy but that turned out to be just his skin.. ugh. Hes havig trouble drinking lw.. eatingnis ok..

He sure is.. i am trying to give all his supplements butnits getting harder.. Wendy hes having trouble drinking now. W the holiday his Porous One got delayed and i think that was helping.. since his coughing i was advised to watch the fluids but its a critical time rn and he went without some he probably needed.. i just gave him some Porous One that just came and going to give him some fluids..

Im scared.

The fluids went fine. It wasn't a big difference to add odansetron and also Cerenia through the injection port.

The injectable odansetron is 2mg / ml. Leroy's dose is 1 ml once a day. The pill form that most vets prescribe is 4 mg. The pill may be dosed as half a pill twice a day.

I’m sorry to hear he seems very weak. I’m praying the meds will help his strength.

how is he feeling on it?.. Pudgles gets 4 mg 2-3x/day.. :/

Staci im scared.. :/ feel a little better cause i gave him some decent fluids.. gonna see. I wanted to come on sooner but the holiday.. holidays are hard here.. and meant to get around to it..

And you say he is weak? Can he stand up? Use the litter box? Is he still eating the Hydra Care? You say he is having problems swallowing? Is that also his food or is it just when you give him pills/meds?

Hi. No.. he stopped being able/wanting to eat himself around this past Monday.. i was encouraged here to try syringe feeding and been doing so since.. ive made snacks and tried getting him to eat but that sorta ceased around Tuesday/Wednesday id say.. i still try but nothing. im having to syringe feed.. and we were doing ok; it was going all right, his constipation had stopped.. but the past day or two hes seemed to worsen; i now attribute it to less fluids and maybe being off his Porous One.. but idk. The idea was to get us through til the Darbo could kick in..

He is weak; wants to walk around but cant much.. He has been more active tho since the fluids. Has has had hard time drinking too starting today but id say now thats probably dehydration.. i hope the fluids i gave him help. He needs his fluids.. since i was warned about them it was back and forth; but he needs them.. coughing is pretty much gone. I wish i realized this earlier…. and it seems to be pills and even water having a bit of trouble.. I dread trying to give the Cerenia tonite. He is eating.

No, it is more bioavailable. Meaning more of it goes into him, instead what is processed by mouth through the GI system. You need twice the dose of the pill form as you do the injectable.

Don't worry about the sugar numbers for now if they don't go much higher. How much fluids did you give?

…. Thats much more preferable; so then he’d need less?.. .. i asked the office and got told well it would be more injections etc and not great.. but it would help our anxiety here.. should i ask for some?

ok on the numbers.. .. idk whats happened.. i weighed myself then weighed both of us together and he seems to be 7-8 lbs.. so i gave like 70-80 mL.. doing ok..

I always think giving injections is much easier and less stressful for my cats.

Have you thought about taking Pudge to the vet for IV fluids to rehydrate him? The swallowing difficulties are worrisome. You have had such bad luck with vets that I don’t know what’s available. Another option would be to take him somewhere for IV fluids during the day and he could go home with you at night? I did this with Darcy for a while. The main problem was getting them to pay attention to his BG. Do you think your vet has given up on him? Do you think Pudge has some fight left in him?

You are working so hard for your baby. I know what that’s like. You must be completely overwhelmed and exhausted.

Try searching online for it too, like Facebook Market Place or Nextdoor Neighbor or EBay or Amazon. Maybe you could find some that someone has left over. Maybe if you list the food here, someone might be able to help you find some or something similiar to try.

Leroy seems fine on the injectable odansetron. I know for sure he's getting all of it. His pill dose was half a 4mg pill twice a day and he tends to spit out the pill. Pudge must be a bigger cat or just need a larger dose.

I strongly suggest a “pee and poop” log.
Keep it next to the litter box and every time he pees or poops write it down (date and time).
Then you don’t have to try to remember (which is impossible).

You and Pudge have been on my mind and in my prayers, I’m sorry I have nothing in the way of advice…I wish I could help and make things better. He’s soo loved (and by many of us as well, you hear that Pudge? You’re one loved little cat!) and you’re doing so much to try to help him. It’s so hard when you see an improvement here, and then something else going wrong there, all the ups and downs…Pudge sure is a fighter, he’s strong, and so are you.
