I was expecting to see a black preshot this a.m., since that usually happens on the 2nd cycle after hitting greens. Suppose it still could.

Still not a very good appetite. Dont think the stimulant helped too much yesterday.
I did get the Greek Yogurt (plain), which to my surprise she REALLY liked. I gave her a spoon when I got home with it, and another spoon with her a/b's last night. Would 2 spoons a day be sufficient? I dont want to give too much and make her tummy icky.

latte wanted to go out on the porch a bit ago, but it was raining. I showed her the rain and she didnt seem to care. She immediately went under a chair and laid down to watch the water fall from the sky. She used to love being on the porch rain or shine, but has spent little more than a minute here or there this summer. The chair she was under used to be a regular spot for her. It was a real pleasure to see her do something she used to enjoy.

A friend gave me a gift certificate for a session with an animal communicator. I set an appt for next Friday. Im both skeptical and open, at the same time (if thats possible). Im very afraid of hearing things that I am doing wrong or hurtful to Latte. Hopefully, whatever she tells me will be constructive and assist me in making positive changes for Latte.

Btw..according to the University, Latte turns 18 this month. We always celebrate on 'my' bday in November because that is when she came to me. Since she was already a number of months old, it was decided upon July. I will have to look up the date to be more specific. Really, no one actually knows, tho.

Glad she liked the yogurt!! That is really great that she went out and did things you remember so well...hanging out under the chair! that was sweet!
Really interesting about the AC...what a nice gift...so thoughtful! Try not to fear hearing something ... try to be open and happy about anything she tells you.
You know, you are doing the very best you can right now...under the circumstances. You are following what the vets tell you and you are really doing an excellent job! Latte loves you and know that you are trying everything in your power to help her. IF you get any hints to make it better, then that is a good thing. I doubt that you will her any negatives at all!
(((Carolyn))) You are the BEST of Mama Beans....your love and dedication to Latte shines through all the time!!!
Hope you both have a good day....it's raining and dark here...sunny Florida. HA!
Give Latte kisses & hugs from the 3 of us.... :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 7/4 Latte AMPS- 310

It's great to hear that Latte likes yogurt. My fussy cat turned her nose up at it - but Gabby is not a kitty who's terribly interested in people food.

I love that Latte decided to take up residence outside under "her" chair. I'm always amused when my guys remember an "old" behavior or do something kitten-like (well, except for Gizmo since he IS a kitten).

Seriously, Carolyn -- how could an animal communicator tell you anything about hurting Latte. She may not like the vet trips or getting pills but I also suspect that Latte knows that ultimately, everything you do is in an effort to help her feel better. You have not given up when so many others would, especially since not giving up has meant sacrificing for yourself.

Re: 7/4 Latte AMPS- 310

Good morning! wonderful to read about Latte enjoying something that used to make her happy - that's always so nice to see! and the yogurt too? My cats love the stuff.

Nice beginning to the day for your girl - i hope you guys have a great holiday!

Re: 7/4 Latte AMPS- 310

It's always so comforting to us when our babies do something that used to be pleasurable for them but that they haven't done in a while. I think this is a sign that Latte is beginning to feel better. Good number to start the day off right too! Go Latte!
What a thoughtful gift you got. When my Munchkin was sick, a friend gave me a gift cert for a reading from Pat Bono. I was feeling the same as you are now...skeptical yet open. I was pleasantly surprised at the things that Munchie was telling me and it actually helped me to have a better outlook on her illness and continue on with the treatments knowing I was doing okay by her. It was a very interesting and insightful session.
Happy July 4th to you and Latte and Happy July birthday to your sweet girl!

Re: 7/4 Latte AMPS- 310, +2-194

Happy 4th! Those are some pretty nice numbers today, Latte!

Glad you went with the Greek yogurt. Yogurt is somewhat unreliable in the amounts of probiotics you get from it (depends how old it is, how it was stored, etc.) but I know that Greek yogurt is a good choice and supposedly contains more of the good bacteria. And it's nice to give something to them that they actually like! I'd take it a little slow at first - make sure it doesn't upset her tummy. As long as she can handle the milk protein or whatever in it, I don't think she can get overdo it on probiotics from the yogurt, so I wouldn't worry about that.

I'm so excited to hear what your Animal Communicator tells you! What a great gift. I am definitely going to start dropping hints to family and friends about something like that!!! Carolyn - you have absolutely no reason to worry about that! You're the best mom to Latte - listen to everyone here! You may not realize it, but you are an awesome mama bean to her. You rock!

Try to keep your mind open to it... I've never been to an animal communicator, but I've had my share of psychic readings in my past. Most were useless, but every so often there was one where they nailed everything on the head - even using the right names for people in my life! it was crazy!

Re: 7/4 Latte AMPS- 310, +2-194

Re: 7/4 Latte AMPS- 310, +2-194, +6.5-117

Well, for someone who said they were going to start limiting their tests...uh...*cough* *cough*

I do usually like to test anything dropping in the blues hourly, then greens 30minutes until I see a surf. Just because she can be quite a houdini at times.

I was going to stop after +4, because she was going back up...then her little beady eyes came out from the bathroom staring at me to direct her to the food. So I tested of course...

+2- 194
+3- 147
+4- 193
+5- 156
+6.5- 117

She is having a really good day, not just number-wise. She looks happy and content.

And Dyana- I looked up the date the U 'coined' as her bday - July 16. Like I said, its totally a made up estimate.

I have not been posting much for updates in the evenings because nothing exciting has been happening. But today, Latte had such a GOOD day - I thought it was worth sharing.

She was a little slow to start eating, so I gave a few spoons of baby food right after shot as a primer (that is really getting expensive :? ). She spent some time under a chair outside, watching the rain and eventually started eating around her +1. The rest of the morning was spent grazing and sitting inside the open door watching the rain some more, and catching a breeze. Every now and then she would come in and lay on the rug in the bedroom. Very little time spent in the bathroom until +5 or +6. It just tickled me to see her out and about. I even got a wake up call at 4pm from my nap. She is much louder than any alarm! She was not dropping, and didnt seem to want anything but to make sure I was there and get some pets. Even got a few bats at her string multiple times this afternoon.

She had very good numbers. Still expecting pay back with a black in the near future, but its not here now. So that is good. Close to red, but its not. Even better. Maybe tomorrow, right?

Still really enjoying the yogurt. I think I will make that a regular treat at least twice/day after we do our bulk of meds (poke, 2-3 shots and/or fluids, 2 pills, and liquid lactulose :? ). I gave her a little extra spoon for poking so much in the middle of the afternoon.

Re the Animal Communicator - I think my biggest fear is that she will tell me Latte really does not want to be here and that she does not understand why I am doing all of this to her. I do tell her every day that she does not need to stay here for ME. I encourage her to show me signs to let me know when she is ready and let her know I will be okay. Whats most important is that SHE WANTS to be here. Im just always afraid of missing those signs. I would be crushed if they have been red flagged all over for years and Ive been blind to them.

Time to get her going with a little baby food and hopefully a short ride before it gets dark....

In my heart...I do believe that all cats just KNOW! They are soooo wise. I have never seen a cat do anything they didn't want to do. Latte will let you know sweetie...but she is content just hanging out, letting you do your thing! If it makes my Mommy happy to be fussing over me like this, well okay...I am fine with it. Besides, she does make me feel better....

You know, honestly, I think my fear of growing very old...much older than I am even now...LOL..is that people will be staring at me with that look in their eyes. You know, that "wouldn't you rather be gone now?" look. I don't think I will want anyone telling ME when I should want to go. I want to decide when, ya know?

With cats...well...they just KNOW! Enjoy the time you have without worrying if you should be doing anything about that. Just forget about that whole thing...you will know when the time comes, but it doesn't sound as if it's now. KWIM? Just enjoy your precious Latte! :YMHUG:
So happy about the yogurt! Yummm!

I love this Latte report! I think that Latte tells you every day, by how hard she is fighting to stay with you, that she wants to be here.

Oh Carolyn, What a wonderful day for Latte and you! Watching rain and enjoying breezes from a favorite place of old, eating yogurt, spending quality time with you and showing you how much she enjoys being with you--what could be better! Happy 4th of July, indeed, and when the 16th rolls around, we'll have a lovely party for your girl. Many hugs to you both,

Ella & Stu

I'm just getting around to reading this now... I always wonder if I'll know when they are telling me it's their time... and I wonder how I'll know. But I've always just known. When Big Cat went to the bridge about 1 1/2 mos ago - I knew that morning that he was leaving me. He wasn't showing any really obvious signs of distress or anything. But, he'd been pulling back for a while and somehow - I don't know how - he let me know that it was the day. I told people at work and my family that I didn't think he'd be coming home that night after his vet appt. And he didn't. But there wasn't any question. I don't know how they do it...

I don't doubt that Latte wants to be with you. You take such very good care of her!

Glad you guys had such a good day!
