It's been a while since I wrote a condo for Maui and since it is Caturday, thought why not.

Maui is doing really well being one year OTJ and the biggest change is that I am now making homemade raw food and she and Sydney think I am a really good cook!

They still get their canned options. It's literally a three bowl buffet twice a day every day.

I just sent a picture for the 2011 FDMB calendar and looked at a pic that I took earlier this month of Maui. It's amazing how much better she looks today then before her diagnosis. Before, she had fur loss and patches of skin showing through, weight loss and was very dandruffy. Today, well....just see for yourself.

The only thing that has become quite noticeable is she used to have 100% black whiskers, now they are turning white. Sigh....

And yes, those eyes of hers - a lot of wisdom in there is what I see.

Maui also would like me to let every kitty know that she has some wonderful opportunities for OTJ kitties at her condo. She said she has lovely uniforms, rather outfits for kitties to wear and they would have a blast working at her place. She also said that they are welcome to join her for happy hour every afternoon (after they finish their chores) and they can drink niptinis and nipjitos. :-D

Hillary!

I know the feeling - Luna is coming up on his one year DX anniversary and it just amazes me how much better he looks today compared to a year ago.
Maui looks beautiful! Love black kitties  All that fine gourmet cooking eh?

Great to see you both updating! :YMHUG:

((((((Hillary)))))) So glad things are going well for you all!!! Maui is gorgeous. The only other pic I had seen of her was your avatar. Hugs to you and your furbabies :YMHUG:

Good to see you Hillary. That picture of Maui is beautiful. She truly is a calendar kitty. I'm glad she's doing so well.

Hello Maui. I hope Captain Donovan is serving you satisfactorily as your personal pilot.

Donny has this black/white whisker thing going on too. Particularly his "eyebrows".... He often has one white whisker sticking up above each eye, but when one falls out, or he gets two on one side.... well, he looks kinda dorky .

Great report and beautiful picture!!! Maui is gorgeous!! So great that you have a condo today...
we appreciate your visiting us Hillary....hope that you and Maui have a great day!
I will repeat Sienne's question about the raw....I mix my feline future chicken with canned....
what about you?
Maui just won't stop looking for good help...er....friends to help her, eh?

The recipe for raw food came from a friend - while it's labor intensive - chopping the meat, bones, skin prior to grinding, once it's chopped the rest goes easy. Here is the recipe:

2 organic fresh whole chickens (green label from Wegman's)
1 fresh chicken (these are smallish chickens also from Wegman's)
par boiled green beans
chicken stock (made from the parts of chicken not used for food)

The tricky part is remembering what parts of the chicken go into the food and what go into the stock pot, as not all the chicken bones, skin, etc are used.

The amount of beans used is 5% per cup of ground meat.

No supplements or pre-mix is added.

I invested in a grinder (the one recommended by Dr. Lisa) and a cleaver and I whack away. It's a great way to get out any frustrations or anger.

I haven't tried turkey or other meats yet, but I do plan to. I figured, when my friends let me loose to do this on my own, I made 2 batches of chicken. 3 chickens is one batch.

I like this picture of Maui, she's looking really good, nice and plump (her last weigh in she was 13.7 pounds) and that seems to be a good weight for her, no flab or hanging belly. And for those that remember our saga and of course her avatar and OTJ congrat pic - well she wasn't at her best then and this is the true Maui that I know and love.

Wait a minute. This is Maui?? I thought your Maui had a messy face with food all over it!

What a beautiful kitty face. I'm so happy she's doing so well!
