Not quite green today, but Trix seems to be feeling really good these days (huge anti-jinx)....appy is strong (MamaBean still holds the plate), energy is great, eyes are bright, she's all kinds of snuggly, her fur is silky soft again, and even when she has higher "PS" numbers, she brings it down completely on her own. Crazy version of OTJ, Trix! Last night, I was walking up the stairs next to her and she broke out into a trot that was bordering on a run - she was racing me! Very cute.

I honestly can't even remember if I updated in Trix's condo last night, but I did convince my Dad to call Penn today to get an appointment with their pancreatic cancer team. This will be much better than the local doctor who seems very good, but also very "general" in his knowledge, and we need a specialist right now. It's still about as bad as it can get, but I feel like this might give us a fighting chance. I always feel much better after I actually see my Dad, because when you see him, you'd never guess in a million years that anything was wrong, much less what he's got going on. And he doesn't feel it, either.

As I've mentioned before, I have been checking on everyone, and thinking about and praying for everyone here...I have not forgotten my LL family. I thank you for all your support and prayers....

Amy

Nicely done Trixie. It is so great to hear how well she is doing. What a little trooper. Love that she wanted to race you.

I'm glad you convinced your dad to call Penn. A specialist would be a great idea with all that is going on. Lots of prayers going up for your family Amy. It is remarkable that he doesn't have any symptoms. ((((AMY))))

Morning Amy ~O) ~O) ~O)

Way to go trixie! Your BG's are looking good today. Off to the green lagoon in a few? Surf well there today. Very cool on racing with your mom last night. :-D

I too am glad that you have convinced your dad to call Penn, and make an appt with a specialist. It really is where he should be, going forward. I will continue to think positive, and wish him the best.

Have the best today. I hope all goes well.

i'm very glad you're getting him in to see a specialist. he's got a lot going on all at once and he's going to need the best team on his side. big hugs to you both.

aw, trixie was racing you? that's so sweet. she is doing great, even with the trixie flair (the high ps) added to it! maybe a teaspoon of lc at +9 would help those preshots come down . . . ? perhaps you're already doing that, though, with feeding her round the clock. she's lucky to have a mom who will hold her plate. :-D you're the best.

Sometimes I do give her a late snack because I know it will bring her BGs down, but most of the time +9 is either in the middle of the night, or I'm at work and can't do it. She never took to her timed feeder when she wasn't "quirky" about eating, so I know nowadays she wouldn't go near a timed feeder.

We have a long way to go with my Dad, but this morning I was poking around Penn's site and did find that there IS one kind of pancreatic cancer that CAN spread the way my Dad's has. This is still not good news, but to me it seems better than the possibility that for some reason out of nowhere he suddenly developed 3 different kinds of cancer all at the same time, the way our local oncologist thinks it is. My Dad is supposed to be calling Penn today...just knowing he'll be with people who KNOW this stuff helps, at least a little...

Such great news about Trixie! I'm just starting an OTJ trial with my cat, so it's always good to see some follow-up from others who have made it OTJ. :)

I hope you're able to get some clarity about your Dad's condition soon. Hopefully the specialist at Penn turns out to be a House-like diagnostician and is able to give you all the answers you need.

Hi Amy,
Sending more prayers for your Dad, and lots of vines. It's good that he's going to Penn to consult with specialists.

Trixie is amazing! How neat that she is racing you up the stairs. Rusty takes his time on the stairs nowadays, but he sure can rush at those chipmunks!

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

It's wonderful to hear that Trixie is doing so well!!

Continued prayers that your DF can get into a specialist who can answer some of those nagging questions for all of you.

Many vines for DF and you and your family. That makes much more sense about there being just one primary cancer. Good job, Trix, bringing that BG back to normal numbers. :-D

Amy, I hope your dad can get in Penn quickly and without any fuss! Sending continued strenth, healing and comfort vines for you and your whole family during this difficult time! Good girl Trixie, stay safe so mama bean doesn't have to worry. That is so cute that she was racing you!!

Yay, Trixie! Did you win the race? Mamabeans can be kinda slow, since they only have two legs!

I wonder if, before you had an FD kitty, you would have done the extra research about Penn and pancreatic cancer? I'm just thinking that this journey has really caused me to look at things more closely and get more in depth, and wondered if it's had that effect on you, too? Going to a specialist is always a good idea. Just as regular vets don't usually know a lot about FD, most doctors don't know any one particular disease inside and out - that's why there are specialists.

Sending lots of healing and comfort vines for your DF, and hugs to you. Many prayers are heading your way, too. Stay strong, Amy. :YMHUG:
