Good morning,

Today

Lucy enjoyed her birthday tuna sashimi and whipped cream yesterday. :-D
Of course Ginger got some too. She was probably more excited about tuna than Lucy was.
I still got some left over, so we are all going to enjoy them today again.

Lucy is doing good this morning.
She ate about 3/4 of her breakfast pretty well.
She's been purry, and we got some nice cuddles on the sofa again!!!
She's getting up and walking OK, slowly and she sometimes need to rest in between, but not wobbly today.

I have a vet appointment this afternoon.
I made this appointment before the ultrasound to discuss the treatment plan including maybe seeing an oncologist or IM specialist.
I wasn't planning on treating cancer, but I thought at that time there might be more I could do in terms of supportive care.
After the ultrasound and the bad news, this appointment hardly seems necessary, but I kept it, so I can talk with the vet to make sure I'm doing everything I can to make her comfortable.
I haven't decided if I want to ask how long more of quality life the vet thought Lucy has.
I want to know what to expect, but I am scared to hear the answer.
On the ultrasound day, the other vet did say that with this type of cancer, it is reasonable to think in weeks rather than in months.
But however long it might be, as you all pointed out, I'm going to take it one day at a time and make every moment count.
I'm not going to take Lucy with me today, but her bum looks so sore from all the diarrhea I want the vet to take a look.
So, I took some close-up photos of her bumbum.

Lucy is also having a distant animal communication session today with her reiki practitioner.
I only asked two questions.
Is she suffering/in pain? And, Does she want to be set free?
I hope to hear "Not yet", but I'll try to be open to whatever she has to say.

Hoping for another good day here. So far so good.
Sending vines to all in need.

I think I'm getting sick. :-x
I think I caught a cold or something.
My throat was scratch and I was sneezy yesterday, and I thought that was because the room got dusty from the air conditioner installation....
Today, it feels more like a cold..... Worst timing to be sick. :-x :-x

I'm glad Lucy enjoyed her birthday tuna sashimi and whipped cream. That's good she ate pretty good for you this morning. I hope the vet appointment goes well and you can get some good ideas from your vet for how to give Lucy the best QOL. Enjoy each good moment as it comes and just focus on that. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Close ups of her bumm?

I'm glad she enjoyed her Birthday fixins yesterday. I hope the vet visit goes well.

:YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: Sending tons of vines for both you and Lucy. I hope you survived the Celebration of Light OK.

I wouldn't ask how long Lucy has, but rather what signs to look for to know it's time. That C thing is such a variable beast and my experiences with it are that it's hard to predict. Just live in the moment. Celebrate the good days and know she'll have some down days sprinkled in there too.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY MARIKO!!!!

Sounds like the kitties had a wonderful birthday dinner with you :-D
Good wishes for your vet appt today, hopefully they will be able to give you the tools you are looking for. Enjoy every moment as thoroughly as Lucy is. And please take care of yourself. I think maybe the cold is due to being emotionally run down, and that's perfectly understandable.
Hugs to you :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I agree with Kim. I'm sure you've been so wrapped up in Lucy that you haven't been taking proper care of yourself. Take some time for you - you can't take care of Lucy if you're laid up.

I hope you get the answers you need from the appointment today. Being prepared doesn't necessarily make it easier, but it helps you to make sensible choices instead of just reacting impulsively. I hope it will help you differentiate a bad day from a sign that the time has come. You want to be able to give Lucy as much QOL time as possible, I know. There is nothing easy about this.

Sending healing vines and hugs to you, Mariko. Feel better!! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

happy Birthday Mariko! Sounds like a nice birthday dinner for Lucy and (Ginger) to enjoy. I didn't know Lucy was 17. This is very emotionally draining so you probably are run down Mariko.

Sending hugs to you. I like what Wendy to live in the moment day by day.

Hi Mariko,
We've been busy at Canoe Outing, so I've missed the board this week. I was happy to hear that Lucy is having some good days and very much hope that the good days will continue. Keeping the vet appointment is a good idea.
It is so hard to know when the time has come. Often it just comes very quickly even when we are prepared. Listen to your girl. She will let you know. In the meantime, every hour of every day is precious.

I hope you don't get a cold! Take care of yourself. Sending vines to you and to Lucy.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty
