I’m alittle freaked out today 😅 I had to grab a box of (non-half markings) syringes from my vet’s office yesterday because their online pharmacy has once again delayed my order by a few days (they were supposed to arrive Monday but didn’t even get shipped till then. Hate the online pharmacy🙄) and I find it too big of a coincidence that she had such a large dive last night and then suddenly gives me a green PS this morning… suspicious. So I think these syringes aren’t accurate compared to the half-unit ones.
It freaked me out so bad that I panic bought a caliper last night at 1am lol

My spidey senses are saying I’ll see a lime today… good thing I just bought a ton of food yesterday but the highest carb% I have on hand is 20% and I’m worried it won’t be enough to bring her back up if she goes low. Seems like 14% doesn’t bump her up a lot anymore. Maybe I’ll ask my FIL to grab me a can of Friskies indoor at Walmart so I don’t have to leave her today.

I can look on the bright side and say she’s healing right? Right?! 😂 I swear everytime I get in a groove and think we are holding steady, boom, Khloe says think again 😏

Hope everyone is having a good day so far!

The numbers are coming along nicely today. Did you end up using the caliper this morning? I so hate when my routine gets messed up. Sorry about the syringes. The caliper has been a good addition for us. Im finding even the 1/2 marked syringes in the same box arent all the same.

Sara, in my humble opinion, I think those syringes are never totally accurate, as far as I could notice around here too!

And yes, I think she is healing 🥰 🥰 but I am not the most experienced one here... you are being very smart and doing really well with the food experimenting.
I think I will also check this Friskies one here in my region.

I hope no scary limes today, but if so, you will manage it well 🤍✨

Is it ok to send you a pm?

Yes, Jo! The syringes in the same box are not really the same... at least here in my country I could notice it when I started to give Mami Cat the super small doses... no fixed pattern.

I’m interested to see what’s going on with these syringes. It just feels off. I’m probably just paranoid tho.
I just bought the caliper last night so it won’t be here until tomorrow unfortunately but you like them? Does it add a good bit of time to your insulin routine? Or do you set them per dose and can just measure quickly? I haven’t even read the guides on them yet, I’ll have to do that today.

The caliper is really easy to use and adds minimal time - I just fix the arms, so you just have to measure once (or each time you change the dose). Sorry to hear that the syringe didn't seem accurate :(

Hopefully the new syringes + caliper get here soon! And no limes today, Miss Khloe!

Hi Clarice, I’d be happy to chat and give support! ☺️ I do want to let you know that I am still too new to all this to give any advice though and I want to make sure you receive the best advice possible, which means posting on threads for more experienced people to weigh in. But if you’d just like to chit-chat, absolutely you can send me a PM! ☺️

Ok cool! Glad it’s not going to add extra time. I bought the ones you linked so if something seems off I could double check with you. Lol
Do you use Ulti-Care syringes by chance?

Of course! Just don't get it wet by the way - it's not a huge deal because you can just dry it off, but the digital screen will start showing random numbers if the caliper gets too wet.

And yes I use the ulti-care half mark ones! I really like them so far, though I think they're the only ones I've tried.

Sweeeet! We use the exact same things then! Big fan of the Ulti-care sharps pack too!

Also good to know about getting it wet, I won’t keep it in the kitchen then just in case.

You can try eye-balling against a light so you can see a little better. I used to go to the fridge, open the door and use the backlight to see more clearly the lines. You’d draw up in your case 2u, then gently twist/squeeze out a couple of drops, that’d be around 1.75u. That should work until you get your calipers and half unit marking syringes. Hopefully she is just teasing you with the idea of a reduction.

Thank you!! Don’t know what I’d do without you Christie!! Give your two fluffy pals some pets from me today ☺️

As Connie said, once you set the caliper at the setting you want, you can use it without adjusting it till you have to change the dose. Just make sure you got one with a locking wheel so you can lock the setting in place. Its a little knob on the top. The first one I bought didnt have one and it was worthless. Yes, I really like using it. I thought it would be harder, but it isnt. I am using a slightly different technique tho then listed in the instructions here. They would both work fine tho.

The bonus with calipers, is that if you have someone else who can help with shots, they can just load to the caliper setting and you know it'll be the same amount as you are giving.

Nice cycle today. I like how her nadirs are slowly inching down.
